We personally love that labels we like are turning to more affordable mass retailers with their designs. But when we heard that Lauren Conrad was taking a break from her contemporaries line sold at upscale boutiques to debut a collection at Kohl's we wondered if she was disappointed by the apparent downgrade.
"It was just kind of a battle I had because I wanted to do a higher-end line -- I wanted to do a contemporary line -- but I was also very aware that the reason I was able to do it at such a young age was because of fans that have supported the show and have supported me," says Conrad. "So this was my way of being able to still do what I love and work with a great company and also make it accessible to the fans that made it possible in the first place."
But has this girl from "The Hills" ever even set foot in the low-end department store? "My family has always shopped at Kohl's, so I've always known about them and I think that they do a really great job," Lauren claims. "I like having more of an eclectic style where you mix high ends and more affordable pieces. It's great to be able to go to a store like Kohl's and get really good classic pieces and mix them into your wardrobe."
We definitely agree with that. But what Lauren has failed to mention is that in this rough financial economy, higher end boutiques and labels are suffering big time. Kohl's is where the money is, and as well all know, the reality stars love their hefty paychecks.
We're always tempted to check out and shop fro celeb clothing lines, but will you buy them no matter where they're sold? Are you more or less likely to shop from a low-end celebrity collection? [US]
