Endless Shopping... Not the Good Kind

user

Alfred Angelo, Wedding Palace, Cynthia's Bridal, and God only knows how many other 'Bridals', 'Palaces', and what-nots I was dragged to. Well dragged is such a strong word. More like tagged along for moral support for the BFF.

My wedges are so worn they're practically flip-flops, my hair, which started out as a nice bob is now doing it's best to imitate Dora the Explorer, and don't even get me started on my patience. It began thin when I woke up this morning, and it's now near non-existent.

Ok.

Done moping and whining.

Rewind.

The day started out pretty well. I woke up near ten to ten-thirty (a Leo's dream since I tend to love sleeping late) checked the news sites for anything Obama related (did I mention I have a crush on our new President?) and found my BFF still at home and raring to go shopping for THE dress.

She told me in a very matter-of-fact way that we were calling up boutiques making sure they had her size in stock before heading there and when we got there to treat them like we were the queens and they the servants (actually that was my idea not hers but that's how I usually treat snobby people who work at snobby boutiques).

We did the calls, which I was instructed to hang up immediately if they didn't have her size (a size I'm not authorized to disclose). I really did enjoy the hanging up part, Especially since at least half of the people on the phone had no phone courtesy what so ever.

Really now, one guy didn't even say 'good morning' or anything. All he said was, 'hello?!' Now if I would have been someone with less a brain I would have hung up thinking it was a wrong number, but I made sure and asked if it was the bridal boutique. To which I got a gruff response that was no where near professional and courteous.

Now I understand that the wedding industry is huge and that most places can pick and choose their clients at their will. But with the way the economy is at the moment, you would think that people would try just a little bit harder to be more welcoming to possible clients.

Whatever.

We got our lists together (which I might add my BFF mentioned I was really good at getting info out of the people and hanging up on them if they became too chatty and tried to sell a too small dress to me, like I said I love hanging up on people), and took off.

The first place:

It's outer facade did not bode well for the boutique. But my BFF muttered something about being open minded and not judging a book by it's cover. Yeah, uh huh. I did the supportive thing and went in. I still put on my bitchy face just to make sure to let them know they were not going to walk all over me.

As soon as I walked in I knew I wasn't going to like it. I approached the woman at the desk. This was the conversation:

"Excuse me, we called-" I tried to say.
The woman looked us over, raised a finger and walked out the door.
I exchanged looks with my BFF and was about to walk out.
"We don't need their services as much as they need your money to make your dress," I whispered furiously.
"Wait just give them the benefit of the doubt!" she whispered back.
"Fine." It was after all her wedding dress, I was there to support her and give her advice and start bitching at someone if they messed with her.

They found the one and only dress that was remotely my BFF's size, it was hideous! The only good thing that came from this visit was that we got my friend's measurements. Of course, the seamstress, had to give her two cents in for every measurement. b---- .

Needless to say we didn't stay long after and left.

We had pretty much the same experiance at the other stores. The first one was just the worse. Why isn't there a Bridal Boutique that caters to plus size women only? We have Lane Bryant and Avenue that makes stylish clothes for BBW why can't there be a Bridal Palace for BBWs ?!?

BBWs have as much right as SBs(Skinny Bitches) to have fun and look forward to finding that one dress that will make her day be THE day.

Whatever.

Our society needs to rewind and rethink life and cater to millions of women who are Big, Bold and Beautiful!

I don't know, maybe we need a spokes person for this. Like Queen Latifah or Oprah or Kirstie Alley.

I'm thinking of opening up my own shop that caters to size 14 and up only. And these dresses will be gorgeous not frumpy and make you look like a white fluff. I want to gget dresses that will be the envy of SBs and they can't have any!!
