Estee Lauder Is Shutting Down Prescriptives!

Sad news for the beauty world: Estee Lauder has announced that the brand Prescriptives will be shut down by January 31, 2010. You'll still be able to buy products from the 30-year-old brand online until supplies run out.

Needless to say, we're quite devastated over at Total Beauty, and we'll be stocking up on our fave Prescriptives products as fast as we can. Check them out below, and share any of your favorite Prescriptives products in the comments.

Prescriptives Flawless Skin Total Protection Makeup SPF 15

We rated it a 9 (out of 10). Here's why: "Hate the feel of foundation? This lightweight liquid wears nice and sheer. Although it offers substantial coverage, it blends seamlessly so it looks like your skin -- only more perfect. Totally flawless? Not exactly. But it does have bonuses, including SPF 15, skin-repairing enzymes infused with yeast, and antioxidants, which 'work synergistically to help protect and repair skin.' Ambitious? Yeah. But the science is believable. It was an industry favorite when it launched."

Prescriptives Colorscope Eye Color

We rated them an 8. Here's why: "A little goes a long way with these rich powder shadows, so apply sparingly. Fortunately if you go overboard (not hard to do at first), the colors blend easily. Most palettes don't necessarily come with complimentary shades, so take advantage of the option to customize one with these shadows. There are 40+ colors and three finishes to choose from, ranging from slightly shimmery shades to darker opaque ones, which work well as eyeliner."

Prescriptives Acne Defense Serum

Our readers gave it a 9.7. Here's why: "ACNE!!!! It's horrible isn't it? Well if you're tired of acne creams and that over dry your face this serum is for you. An acne treatment you can put on your entire face ... wow. It treats the acne u have without drying out skin but also helps to prevent any more zits from appearing. I love it [and] sleep with it. IT JUST ROCKS!!!"

Prescriptives Super Line Prenventor Xtreme

Our readers gave it a 9.3. Here's why: "I would bathe in this stuff if I could! It makes my skin look plumper, brighter and just plain healthier. I use it after washing my face before applying moisturizer. Plus -- it heals scars and cuts. I have a poison ivy scar that's a few months old and I can see improvement everyday after I put it on. It's pricey, but totally worth the investment!"

Prescriptives Virtual Skin Super-Natural Finish

Our readers gave it a 9.2. Here's why: "Faaaaaaaantastic foundation. I can't say that enough ... my skin is so hard to match, and this fit the bill. Perfect skin tone match, easy to blend, doesn't break me out or make my skin oily. Definitely worth the money. A must try for acne-prone skin or anyone (like myself) who has rosy undertone skin. No more fake yellow-undertone foundation for me!"

Prescriptives definitely paved the way for color-printing but personally, I never found a foundation formula that worked for me. BUT the powders are truly awesome and I hope that Estee Lauder incorporates them into their skin care line.

Just my luck! :-( I really think that Estee Lauder makes great products. I have tested Dior and YSL, but was happiest with EL. What a shame!
