Face Masks: The Ultimate Multitaskers

When was the last time you did a face mask?  Like a body scrub, face masks can be oh-so-satisfying. They give you that I'm a pampered spa princess feel for less than $20. You can make it fancy-by adding some exfoliation and toning action-or keep it simple.  Just slap on a face mask for ten minutes, lay back and breath. Not only will your face thank you, your mind will too!

While there are some way pricey face masks out there, there are a bunch of affordable options too.  One that I really love is the Body Shop's Tea Tree Face Mask.  It tingles!  A feeling I personally love.  However, people with sensitive skin be warned-this is definetly a mask for those of us who have been blessed with oily, acne-prone skin. I don't have sensitive skin, but I have heard good things about Freeman's Oatmeal Mask.  Any oatmeal mask is good for dry, flaky skin.  The oatmeal gently exfoliates the dry patches AND soothes irriated skin.  Another great (and natural!) mask is Burts Bee's Clay Mask.  Again this is for those with oily skin. This draws out oils without overdrying (though I still have to mosturize after) and leaves your skin feeling refreshed and baby soft. Love! You can get this at health food stores and at Rite-Aid as well.

Although this options are not terribly expensive, for those of us looking to save a little extra cash without giving up our lovely me time, DIY is another great option.  You can search Google for masks that will fit your exact skin needs, but here are a couple of my favorites:

  • A carrot/butter mask! Sounds kinda weird but makes skin absolutely GLOW. This is good for normal skin that needs a bit of a boost. Just take half a carrot (or a few baby ones) and boil them until they are ready to be mashed.  Mash them up, add a sliver of butter and slap it on your face for 10 minutes or so.  Then rinse.
  • Oatmeal! As mentioned above oatmeal is wonderous at relieving dry, itchy skin. That's why you took oatmeal baths when you had the chicken pox...remember? Just take some cooled oatmeal and put it on your face. Leave it on for 20-30 minutes, then rinse and mosturize.

Face masks are such great de-stressers and prettifiers! So take a moment to sit back, relax and slap on a face mask. Your face AND mind will thank you.
