Four Good Reasons To Stop Washing Your Hair

Shampooing every day is a bore. My solution? Dry shampoo. It allows me to skip a day--even two--without feeling or looking like a greaseball. Even better: it adds major volume and gives your hair that fashion-y matte look. Here's how to dry out:

Pick a dry shampoo that comes in a can
. They're the lightest and sheerest and can be misted all over your head without creating any gunky spots or looking like dandruff. My faves: Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Shampoo, which has a lemon verbena scent so your hair smells as clean as it looks ($11); and Klorane Dry Gentle Shampoo with Oat Milk--the classic, as in every stylist we know has a can or two in their kit ($18).

Flip your head over and do a serious misting, like you're one of those insane hair-spray lovers from the eighties. I let 'er rip for a full ten seconds--and I've rarely overdone it.

Flip your head back up and tousle your hair with both hands to distribute the dry shampoo.

Revel in the fact that you could look this good with so little effort.

dry shampoo is great. and it is the easiest way to add volume. Just be careful of the kind you use if you have dark hair, it can looka little ashy afterward (when you do take a shower, it washes right out, though)some serious brushing is needed to get al the white stuff out. Still i love it. if you're into saving money like me ( full disclosure i do work at Walgreens where these products can be purchased) There is SAMY dry shampoo that I really like, massive volume nad smells clean for about eight bucks and there is also PSSSSST! Which looks like an old old product, they haven't updated the can at all but it is great! a little embarrassing if you ask for it by name though...

If you have extremely dark hair, i hear that BUmble nad Bumble has colored dry shampoo but since we don't carry very much of that particular line around here, i haven't found out what it is like.

Anyway, yes htis blogger is right, dry shampoo rules.

Ok first of all, where are the 4 good reasons to stop washing your hair?? This was only 1 reason. I have my own reason to KEEP washing my hair: after about 2 days my scalp goes nuts, itching and flaking, so for the sake of my scalp I have to wash my hair at least every other day. I guess some people can get away with the dry shampoo thing, but I don't know many people who could. Sorry, but this article was really disappointing.

Every hair stylist knows its best not to wash your hair every day if u can get away with it especially if u color your hair. If u can go a couple of days and use a boar hair brush to help brush the natural oils down to the ends of your hair every day u will notice alot less breakage and color fade because u are not damaging your hair every day with shampoos, alcohol based products and heat styling. We can imagine how the more we do this the more our hair is damaged. I personally wont spend money on a dry shampoo tho. If I feel like my hair is a little to shiny after brushing I just shake a little baby powder into my palms rub my hands together then run my hands through the top of my head.A bottle of baby powder costs alot less and does the same thing. Its just not in aresol form. -Stylist 6 yrs-

If u can get away with not washing your hair every day then yes it is very beneficial especially if u color it. U can imagine how not damaging your hair daily with shampoos alcohol based products and hat styling could really benefit u. To distribute your natural oils through your hair just get a boar hair brush and brush from roots to ends on the days u dont wash. Personally I wont spend money on a dry shampoo if i feel like my hair is a little too shiny after brushing i just shake a little baby powder into my hands rub my palms together then run my hands through the top of my head it works just the same its just not in the form of a spray and it saves money too. -Stylist 6 yrs-

Would this work with really curly hair though? I have a feeling if I did this, the amount of brushing involved would make me look like a giant frizzball. I wash my hair every other day and use a spray bottle with water and leave-in conditioner on the off days. It works pretty well.

I have the Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Shampoo but the kind that's not a spray but a shake-on powder. I love it. A tiny bit goes a long way. I can go a week (yes a whole week) without washing my hair, and it looks great the whole time. This is a fabulous thing for a busy mom like me . . . I do like the lemon smell, too.

I work out 5 to six times a week, not showering and washing my hair is NOT an option. Plus, when I shower at night and shower in the morning without washing my hair I feel like my facial skin doesn't look as good as when I take a full on shower. All that heat and steam...Getting ready, on time, is such a massive pain in the hoo.
