Four Great Ways to Fight Random Sun Exposure

I've never quite understood those girls who rocked sunscreen only when they're at the beach or the pool when your body is just as exposed when you're going to work. Seriously, think about it: Whether you're driving, dining al fresco, walking the dog, or going to the corner for a Pinkberry, the sun is prematurely aging every square millimeter of your skin it can reach. Even as I type this—in front of two, large open windows—I know my shoulders, arms, and hands are getting a UV beating.

I know you're probably not up for slathering your body in coconut-scented, white sunblock every morning before work, but allow me to suggest a few products that are easy, discreet, and a pleasure to use:

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion with SPF 15. Oatmeal-obsessed Aveeno infused its rich body lotion with broad spectrum protection, and housed the product in a convenient pump. I keep one of these at my desk, stealing a couple of squirts before heading out for lunch or running errands.

DuWop Revolution. This tinted body moisturizer with SPF 15 gives your skin a nice glow and smooths any imperfections, plus it smells of lavender, orange blossom, and tangerine. Very summery.

Neutrogena Fresh Cooling Mist Body Sunblock with SPF 30. When you're going to be outside for more than a ten-minute errand, kick it up to a minimum of SPF 30—and reapply, reapply, reapply! In the middle of a hot, muggy day, what could be more delicious than a chill mist of this on your chest and neck? Heaven.

I love the Aveeno with SPF 15. It is moisturizing but not greasy at all, plus it absorbs quickly. I use Aveeno all the time anyway so this just made sense. Also Olay makes a body lotion with SPF 15. It's called Age Tranform Intense UV Defense Serum. It's not a serum though, it's a lotion. I don't like it as well as the Aveeno though because it does has a bit of a fragrance where the Aveeno is fragrance free, plus the Olay takes a bit longer to absorb. Lubriderm makes a daily lotion for the body that has SPF 15 in it but I haven't tried it yet. I think skin care companies are becoming more aware that the body needs protection as well as the face and consumers want something other than regular sunscreen for daily use.

I love Aveeno as well. Question: Is this ok to put on the face? Or will it clog your poors? I like the lotions with the spf in it and something that I can use all over even the face. But have found some will clog my poors.

I have been using Neutrogena for years but I bought some a few months ago--Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 55--which, after it dries on my skin, begins to unravel somehow, creating beads that peel off. If I try to remove them, they just peel more; I have had to resort to washing off my sunblock or I have blobs of white peely stuff all over my face. Anyone else have this problem?

Aveeno contains parabens and other chemicals that are absorbed in the body through the skin. Did you know that many women with breast cancer have high levels of parabens in their bodies. I have stopped using all products that contain parabens. Parabens are dangerous chemical preservatives. I refuse to let these companies continue to ge rich at my health's expense. Vitamin e, Vitamin c and other organic healthy preservatives can be used. Say no to parabens and other chemicals. Rule of thumb: If you can't pronounce it, do not use it! Log on to oprah.com to get the web address for chemical in our cosmetics, body skin and hair products. Also terralina .com has a list. Terralina promotes it's products at this site. I have not tried the products. Remember, just say no to unhealthy products today! Educate yourself and keep your family safe. Check natural health magazine and other similar publications. Visit Whole Foods stores. For those of you who cry that organic products are expensive -- "pay for healthy products now or pay the doctor later."

LOVE the spray sunscreen! I keep it in my car and spray down my arm before going for a drive to avoid the dreaded "driving tan".
