French Women Don’t Get Fat! Politicians In France Propose Airbrush Warnings
user
You believed French women
looked gorgeous naturally, didn’t you? Quel suprise!
Airbrushing is
causing unrealistic body images and encouraging eating disorders,
said a French politician on Monday as she proposed warning labels
on digitally enhanced images. Parlimentarian Valerie Boyer and 50
other French politicians want a “health warning” on airbrushed
pics. All enhanced photos would be accompanied by this line:
“Photograph retouched to modify the physical appearance of a
person.” Under the proposal in France, a company that didn’t
include the warning on their retouched ads would be slapped with a
trés mal fine of a $54,930, or up to 50 percent the cost of the
advertisement. The French proposal comes on the heels of a
suggestion by British pols for warning labels of their own. But
what we want to know is how long until such a proposal comes to the
States, where we just love our Photoshop? (And can you imagine what
Anna Wintour would have to say about it?) [

Thats interesting, and I think it might help girls see that what you see in a magazine isnt always whats real.... but that doesnt necessarily mean that its not obtainable.

growing up seeing all the fashion beauty magazines never really made me have low self esteem on my body. i never viewed stick thin girls to be more beautiful. always would see the models as plain faced with tons of makeup and looking like skeletons. but i realize not every young girl is going to think likewise. it's a neat idea having magazines put a warning label on those images which are digitally enhanced.

I am tired of hearing about French girls. Yes, they do get fat. Yes, they get pimples, too. They have mood swings. And.. they smoke way too much. I think most women/girls realize that the magazine pics of models and actresses have been altered considerably. Now with HD TV, you can see they have skin imperfections just like other people.

Warning or no, pretty sells. If it didn't, women like us wouldn't be dropping buckets of cash into cosmetic, perfume, and clothes manufacturers' pockets.

i think it might be a good idea actually. i think young girls would think twice about trying to be supper skinny or going to extreme lengths to be "pretty"

Agreed with "Deadly Poison" I never cared what I saw on tv or magazines, on the contrary, seeing bones disgusted me all my life, and for me having no boobs or ass is not a good thing, but most kids are influenced, I never knew this, because I was not one of them, it really depends on what culture & family you grow up in, for Caucasians, the moms constantly complain how fat they are when they are stick thin, therefore their male children grow up to have nit picks when their women gain weight, everyone sees different realities, in Latino & Black families, "fat" or having breasts & ass is seen as beautiful and skinny as needing to change. I never thought French women looked beautiful, I have seen them some in person, and they are plain.
