H&M went overboard Tuesday night to
celebrate its recent collaboration with
Matthew Williamson, hosting a triple-decker blowout on
a boat billed as the largest party yacht on the East Coast. A
formation of white-clad sailors and sailorettes saluted guests
boarding the Majesty at the South Street Seaport, and inside a
retro-tropical main cabin fit for Carmen Miranda, Grace
Jones took the stage. "I hear people are leaving
already," she growled from behind a mask around a quarter to
midnight. "Obviously, you don't know me!" She
couldn't have been referring to
Lucy Liu or
Patricia Field, who took in the show on the thronged
dance floor. Williamson, for his part, danced and did his
man-of-the-hour thing with date
Daria Werbowy behind a velvet rope in the back.
"I think I might have a boat party after this,"
Chanel Iman announced as she emerged from one
of two photo booths, which were almost as popular as the waiters
passing out piña coladas in real coconuts. The model won't be
celebrating her 19th until December 1 but started planning on the
spot, anyway: "We'll have lots of heaters." None
needed on this night, of course. The balmy summer breezes had the
likes of
Anja Rubik and
Helena Christensen modeling itsy-bitsy party frocks.
Adrien Brody sported a tank top and board shorts. A
bit casual, perhaps? "I dressed for the occasion," he
shrugged.
