Hello Casper, it's me Bronzer! How to get a tan fast without looking like an Oompa Loompa

Are you planning on wearing shorts/a skirt/a bathing suit/exposing any flesh this weekend? I am. And quite frankly, I feel scared. My skin is WHITE. Not like pretty, ivory Nicole Kidman white. No, we're dealing with Philip Seymour Hoffman pale-with-blotchy-specks-of-red-fire white. It is not, in a word, hot. And I know, I should be all "love yourself for who you are", "who cares about pasty legs, we're at war." But instead, I just want to use a bit of fast, non-streaky self-tanner and look a teeny tiny bit bronze. Sue me.
I've rounded up some quick-fix products below. All I've used myself or have come on very good recommendations (oh and for best results your legs should be shaved and your skin exfoliated first)...

How can I explain to you that Jergens Natural Glow Express will change your life?
Jergens Natural Glow Express will change your life. It's $7.99 at CVS (and lots of drugstores) and it is awesome.

My friend swears by this new Body Shop Body & Leg Shine ("It takes the edge off super-white legs.") What's even cooler is, it's a solid so you could travel with it, without its taking up precious room in your zip-lock liquid toiletries bag ($18.50)

Same concept with this Michael Kors Leg Shine to Go (I find this one kind of shimmering, which is neither good nor bad, just a fact). At $10, it's also really well-priced.

It's kind of expensive, yes, but Lancome's Flash Bronzer is what every fashion editor I know uses for a smooth, real-looking leg tan. Available at most department stores, $29.50.

Self-tanning products have come a long way. I have been using L'Oreal Sublime Bronze products for face and body and am very happy with the results.

I still hate the smell of the Jergens natural glow. The best thing to do if you are going out for the night is Philosophy's the Big Skinny. It's amazing, instantaneous, and doesn't come off until you shower. If it is too dark for you, just mix it with a little lotion, it will seriously just add a glow and is my favorite product ever.

My new favorite self-tanner is something I found at a Bath & Body Works Outlet store. It is self-tanning lotion but it's Ginger and Verbena scented so it doesn't stink like the Jergen's Natural Glow. I think I paid maybe $2 for it too. I wish I'd bought a couple.

I have used Coppertone and Banana Boat brand self tanners. Neither was more than $8 and it goes on streak free and doesn't turn you orange. No need to pay an arm and a leg for a product!!!!!

I'm all in favor of good (and not costly) drug store tanners, but if you're not afraid of going a bit pricier, try St. Tropez. It's about $37 a bottle, but it's quick, goes on dark, but not that weird orangey dark. The tan is even better the second day. Love it, love it.

This is my first visit to Shine and I have to say it's one of the best sites I've found. I'll be making this an everyday visit from now on. Keep up the good work.

I don't care that I have fair skin. Don't get me wrong, a nice light tan is perfect for when I want to wear shorts, but self tanning products do not work well on my skin. As for the Jergens crap, it smells awful, and it irritates my skin. Whenever I am able to find it, I love to use Hawaiian Tropics spf 45 Golden tanning and sunscreen combo. It works great and does not smell like you stepped in ----- . Also it's very gentle on the skin.

I use St. Tropez for my body and Benefit Glamazon for my face. One of my worst horror stories is when my friend dared me to use this spray on Neutrogena tanner. I tried it, and my legs turned orange. I also had stripes all over my legs from where i had overlapped the line while sprayin. FInally, when it had already dried, i realized i hadn't done my feet. So the next day when i tried to wear flats, my legs were orange until my feet, where they were like a pasty white. it was sooo embarassing. But i found out that if you get a bad tan, something that helps is rubbing lemon juice all over the bad parts. it gets rid of some of it.
