How Do We Feel About The "Nude Models" In New Issue Of Harper’s Bazaar!?

Harper's Bazaar

Harper's Bazaar

Hopping on the au natural, no-makeup trend that French Elle popularized, September's Harper’s Bazaar features bare-faced supermodels in its September issue. In an eight-page spread, Peter Lindbergh captured iconic models like Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, and Helena Christensen in black and white photos wearing simple tanks and shirts and naturally styled hair, as if they had just rolled out of bed. (If only we normals could look that incredible first thing.) Also included: Amber Valletta, Shalom Harlow, Kristen McMenamy, Nadja Auermann, and Tatjana Patitz. Gorgeous. [Models.com]

Sorry, but from the looks of these photos, they can all use a little makeup except for Amber Valetta. That first model looks pretty rough. Whats wrong with makeup? I totally don't think it should be standard. I buy these mags for fashion and beauty tips. If I want to see plain, blah women, I'll go walk around the mall.

I'm sure the models are wearing some sort of make up. Look at their hair. It's perfect! How many regular women wake up with hair like that?

And I'm sure all the pictures were airbrushed! Who are they kidding?

I completely understand buying fashion magazines for the fashion and makeup but it’s really refreshing to see this sort of thing every once and a while. I would love it if no makeup was in I could go to work without getting yelled at. The beauty industry is far to focused on what we shouldn’t look like but this add is telling us it’s ok. I love it.

Julia, I am one of the lucky few who wakes up with my hair looking better than it does after I've styled it; the kicker is that if I leave the house that way, it looks like a greasy mess within a few hours! Gross! I, too, purchase fashion magazines for the makeup and beauty tips, but I'm with Spangss, it's refreshing to see some of the most iconic beauties in the world going au natural.

Sadly I need make-up my skin is blotchy and with out make up i have little beady eyes. Who finds those sexy? NO ONE. I like this idea about showing them in their natural state. But most woman do most look that good without make up.

Man the first chick looks like she was in a brawl! And OMG! "Sweet T" totally agree!!!!!!!! I wake up hair looks beautiful but if I dare not wash it and put on clothes and go out it will automatically get greasy and nasty! Is it just a perception?! LOL! So I shower every morning & never evern not wash my hair unless I'm staying in.

I love it. I am tired of seeing impossible images of women everywhere. You know the photos where the skins is evened out, lips plumped, eyes widened, arms and legs stretched to look longer and leaner. It's impossible to compete. I love seeing that models are like us. They get dark rings, freckles, and other normal traits. I will go buy Harpers Bazaar just to support such views.

Love au natural. Don't really care if they use cosmetics, not as if my approval matters anyways but if it makes them feel better sure go for it. Not like I've ever used "guyliner".

    *looks around, crickets*

Heh, no seriously never have. ;)
