How to get your Fashion + Beauty posts featured on Shine...

We love hearing from our awesome community of women (I'm actually so thrilled that you guys are here and engaged, you have no idea) and we want to feature tons of your thoughts and ideas and questions and finds...

If you're blogging (it's easy, go here) and want to see your posts featured in my Editor's Picks or the top stories module, here are a few tips about the kinds of entries I'm looking for...
  • Ones that share a specific style or beauty dilemma (I love helping and so do other readers)
  • Product reviews (but, please, not if you work for the company, that's just unfair), spa treatment reviews, local shopping favorites, deals you think everyone will enjoy, inspiring beauty secrets
  • Your favorite outfits (please include pictures!)
  • Fashion that makes you sad, mad
The kind of thing I don't want are posts that...
  • Are advertisements or spam
  • Feature copyright-protected photos
  • Are pick-up of other articles
  • Belong in a different channel (like Love & Sex or Parenting)
I can't wait to read your stuff!

Hi everyone. I'm new to this site but I'm excited to be apart of this site! Fashion and Beauty - that's my thing. I am a Beauty Advisor and an Independant Sales Rep of a particular company and I would love to share what I know with all the other ladies out there. As to keep things fair, I will not recommend products from the company for which I am associated with. But will offer beauty tips. To start with...

4 steps to a flawless complexion

    1. Target your T-zone. Most women have a greater buildup of cells of the forehead, nose and chin, which can lease to clogged pores. Sweep a cotten puff or pad steeped in salicylic acid-based toner over your face, concentrating on those ares.

    2. Do a weekly mask. Feed skin extra nutrients or anti-aging ingredients once a week treatment. Masks can penetrate more deeply and are more effective once dead skin cells have been diminished.

    3. Use a SPF of 15 or higher. Consistent sloughing helps diminish hyperpigmentation like spots and freckles. To keep skin tone even, you must use a protective product with SPF 15 or higher - even for incidental sun exposure.

    4. Apply makeup with a light hand. When skin is properly exfoliated, you dont need a ton of coverage. You wont have to worry about the cakey look that can result from pigment clinging to clumps of dry cells.

That's it for this post. If any of you ladies have a particular concern with your skin care or questions on how to apply makeup or a skin care regimen, feel free to email me. I love to help woman look and feel their best and to bring the beauty that lies within all of us to the surface. I'll post more tips as time allows.

    Hi.

I'm so thrilled about this web page. I am a make-up artist/esthetician/nail technician. I recently went to NYC for the international spa conference and international beauty show and I am so pumped up about my job!

I think this is gonna be an interesting web page. I love fashiion and beauty tips. I'm forever making time to read articles about beauty and beautiful things. Though, I'm a busy heart nurse. I take the time to read and apply some beauty tips.

my mom never wore make up or did beauty treatments when i was growing up, so that left me to be a very creative "skin technician" as a teen. after a lot of hits and misses here are the best tips i use 15 years later and share with my friends:

For a red face(like over scrubbing or after a wax): COLD MILK! on a wash cloth - it works!

For a soft face: oatmeal, egg and milk scrub - Its runny but works

For a deodorant boost on hot days..... pat a little out of the fridge baking soda!

    A bad pimple - toothpaste!

The Leaping Bunny logo is the identifying symbol of BUAVS ( British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection) internationally recognized symbol for products and companies that are Cruelty-free. Go here for more information: www.gocrueltyfree.org

This symbol, for those who know it assists you when scanning the beauty counter/aisle. When you see it, relief floods through your heart- this product was not tested- at ANY time- not just the finished product- on animals. While a host of other animal rights issues is flammatory and has pros and cons, I see no pro to animal testing. The arguement that it is necessary is blatantly untrue- if animals are so different that they do not feel the same pain or deserve the same exemption from chemicals being poked in their eye that we do, then how do you know what works on them will work on humans?

I have never seen anyone look at a product, notice it was tested on animals, and feel happy about it. Nuetral is my best guess. But the goodness of cruelty-free products can't be denied. We have much better, more humane sciences now to test our products- PLUS so many companies are now using all organics, which are much safer than random chemicals are for humans anyway!

No more bunnies held in cages with their heads sticking out to be swabbed with chemicals that burn their overly-sensitive eyes. No more kittens shaved and slathered with lotions to test for allergies. No more puppies shaved and sprayed with perfume. It takes on a different face besides "beauty" when you attach cute, helpless animals to such atrocities.

While there are thousands of other good causes you can spend your time and money on, the truth is, while we will donate to a hurricane or earthquake fund, and care about pedophiles and the safety of our children, we will continue buying cosmetics, perfume, clothes, and other "luxury" items.

My question is this: how do YOU feel about animal testing- feel free to post sites/facts for either side- AND

How do YOU feel when you see the Bunny logo? Does it sway your decision one brand for the next, or is all about performance and price for you? Are you an ethical consumer?

For those who weren't aware of what it meant, now will you be letting that bunny leap into your hearts and wallets?
