How To Stand Out At A Summer Wedding

Just because a wedding day is all about the bride (as it should be) doesn't mean you have to sacrifice your own personal style. Below are a few ideas to make all those weddings in your calendar an opportunity for some stand-out style.  My only rule is stay away from white..I mean, it's only fair.

1) Wear a long, chiffon printed dress.
A maxi dress is the perfect look for this season of summer weddings. It's flowing shape is fitting for a day focused on romance. Stand out from the crowd in bold peacock-inspired prints that perfectly show off your hard-earned tan.

2) Wear neutral layers of ruffles. A ruffle is a classic romantic nod and what girl doesn't love to twirl on the dance floor in a frou-frou dress. The key is not looking like a cupcake. Wear a ruffled dress in neutral hues and a belt at the waist for a sophisticated, steam-lined look.

3) Wear a floral headband.
To add major style to even your most basic dress, opt for a fun, romantic headband. Look for tulle and floral elements to keep your look in tune with the event.

It occurs to me that at the last three weddings I went to where I was not actually in the wedding I wore some shade of pink. Now, these were totally different outfits each time, but it seems like pink is my go-to wedding choice. One time I wore a bright pink printed vintage dress (from the 60s I think), another time it was pale pink slacks and a cream and pink softly printed top, this last time it was my soft pink sheath dress. And the dress I am planning on wearing to the one wedding I have to go to this summer is also pink, though it is a print, the base color is a light pink. Hm... This is a little odd since I would definitely not say that pink was my favorite color and I don't often wear it at non-wedding times. Just seems like pink is a good wedding color for me somehow.

The first dress is cute but shows cleavage, the 2nd dress is hobo chic and the 3rd the headband must go.

I wouldnt go with a headband, I think those are only appropriate for the bridesmaids and this one is just down right ugly. The first dress is cute, the second dress is not really wedding guest style. More like crazy runway style.

the headband is way too expensive at 88 dollars, I'd rather buy something prettier...

I love the second dress, the gray ruffled one! So cool! I do not like the maxi-dress trend because they tend to not be flattering. Most of them are empire-waisted which means they make the wearer look pregnant. And if you are too much of an hourglass shape, they fall funny and make your hips and butt stick out in an unflattering way plus makes you look bigger than you are in the abdomen/waist area. If you are an hourglass you look much better in a dress that is belted or nipped-in at the waist to accentuate the curves. I totally want that ruffle dress!!

What others said about the headband is true. Not only juvenile, but likely to mistake you for one of the bridal party. Both dresses are too low cut for a wedding. The bride is supposed to be the focus, not some guests cleavage.
