Is Kate Moss too old to model makeup?

Say what you will about Kate Moss (and obviously you could say a lot), she's still, technically speaking, a good model. And if I've learned anything from my many, many hours of watching America's Next Top Model, being a good model is not something that, you know, comes naturally to just anyone. And perhaps KM's getting a little more airbrushing these days, but she can still sell the bejeezus out of a mascara or a trench or some ridiculous expensive earrings and I still have an irrational inclination to buy all the crap she's selling, even though I don't need it. Ultimately, this seems like a mark of true advertising success.

So, what up Rimmel? Rumors are swirling that the cosmetics company wants to dump Moss because she's too old and get a younger model to represent the brand (rumors also say this younger model could be Agyness Deyn, and well, you all can guess how I feel about that). Kate's 34 years-old, totally ancient in model years, I know. But is she irrelevant? Putting aside the drugs, Pete Doherty and semi-bad new Top Shop collection, is 34 too old to represent a youth-oriented makeup line? Even if you're a style icon? If it is, it makes me very sad. I could care less about whether it is specifically Kate Moss or not. My view is that NO ONE, regardless of age (or color, style, etc.), is too old! I realize that the advertisers' ideal is "marketable beauty" but it is offensive to even think, from my 44 year old point of view, that a woman 10 or more (even less!) years younger than me is too old to sell me makeup or clothes. I guess I am too far from their target audience to be empathetic with the greedy marketing companies, and too wounded by my own encounters with ageism.

I'm 47 and I wear make-up. Models should come in all ages. Sure helps me find something age-appropriate! Kate Moss is beautiful, although her attitude could use an adjustment from time to time.....

I personally do not like Kate Moss even a little. I'm not being rude or even jealous but I don't think she is remotely attractive. Not to mention the whole heroin-chic look went out with the 90s. I think a healthy look is much more attractive than the anorexic one that Kate's rocking.

And as for being too old to advertise make-up...I think that's kind of ridiculous: do people over 30 not wear any? If I liked Kate Moss, I'd totally endorse her as a make-up spokesmodel.

I think all women are beautiful! Always have! She looks like she tans though. I have finally rid myself of the sun-damaged marks, except for a few freckles and we are going to Mexico. I will be wearing a hat and good SPF on the face and neck. I found a awesome product, so awesome that I am officially endorsing it. I would love to get Kate to try, people know her. LOL I have passed the 50 mark and 50 can be beautiful!
