I propose we begin with one of my favorite books about the fashion industry, Janice Dickinson's No Lifeguard on Duty. This memoir is from before crazy Janice was ever a loud-mouthed, plastic-faced judge on America's Next Top Model. It tells the story of her years as an obscenely successful model in the '70s and '80s, all the celebrities she met and had relationships with and just how dark the business of modeling really is. It is awesome and juicy and I bet (if you have interest in this sort of thing) you will love it.
Let me know in the comments below if you're interested in the SFBC (Shine Fashion Book Club) and we could start in...two weeks? Back-to-school with trashy books? Perhaps if we all love it, we'll get an interview with Janice later? Oh, the possibilities are endless.
