Lindsay Lohan and Ungaro: Enough Backlash?

While the talk of
Paris Fashion Week is normally clothing, accessories and the
like, last week show-goers were abuzz about Lindsay Lohan. The
actress,
who was tapped to be artistic adviser for Emanuel Ungaro,
received almost all negative feedback and backlash from critics and
editors. While Estrella Archs, Ungaro's new designer with a
solid fashion education, received her share of negativity, it was
Lohan who received scathing comments calling her an addict,
has-been, and desperate. Fashion blogs like
Style.com,
TheCut and papers like
The Los Angeles Times and
The New York Times were flooded with commenters who voiced
their opinions on the 23 year-old's contribution to the line.
But not everyone was so negative. Stephanie Solomon, vice president
and fashion director of Bloomingdale's, New York, told
WWD, "I know it sounds a bit controversial, but
we loved Ungaro and its sexy, draped minidresses in vibrant, happy
colors. Estrella Archs is a talent to watch." And
this article
in Slate
poses the question of why critics were so harsh. We wonder the same
thing? What do you think?
