M. Obama! C. Bruni-Sarkozy! One explosive fashion showdown

This is totally silly/ridiculous, but let's play along...

OMG! Right this minute, all over the world, people's brains are exploding. You know why? Because Michelle Obama and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy were photographed together, in France, while wearing clothes!

As part of their ongoing European tour, President and Mrs. Obama met with French President Nicholas Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni-Sarkozy this morning. Michelle wore a Thakoon floral-print coat, kitten heels, and pretty diamond earrings. The French lady pulled off a belted gray trench by Dior and black flats. Because both women are considered international fashion icons, the world is dying to know: Who looked better?

I'm torn. I kind of think both jackets are too busy, though I feel Michelle looks better in her little heels and made more of an effort with her hair.

But I am really not into those girlish pink flowers. Oh, so confusing!
What do you guys think?

I am a sucker for fabulous jackets. With that said, although I love Michelle Obama's style, I have to go with Carla Bruni-Sarkozy on this one. That jacket and the tie around the neck are killing it. What is not killing it though are the flats. So how about I say +2 for the coat and -1 for the flats.

Carla Bruni-Sarkozy. The flowers are too much for Michelle. Neither jackets are very flattering, but I love Carla's simlple jacket and the bow around the neck. Much more fitting for a President's wife.

Do not like either one. With you elle, the flats are fine. That flower pattern on Michelle is icky and the bow on the French is tacky.

I'm sorry but neither of these jackets are not on my top list : ( If I HAD to choose one I would have to go with the French first lady. The color kind of washes her out but it looks better than those hideous flowers on First Lady Obama's jacket.

I'm really not fond of either.

I'm not fond of either, but it's spring. A dull gray wouldn't be my choice for this time of the year, but Carla is extremely attractive and would look good in a potato sack. Michelle will always be fashion controversial because she likes to mix it up and her taste in colors/textures/styles vary a great deal. Her height is definitely an advantage. Someone shorter in that Thakoon coat would look like Aunt Gertie's flower garden.

Michelle Obama's dress makes me think of that scene in The Sound of Music where Maria makes the von Trapp children new outfits out of the curtains. I'm not a fan. I'd like Carla Bruni's better if it wasn't so beige, but the cut and style are very sophisticated. The flats don't bother me - it wouldn't really do to be towering over her husband at a political event.

I love both jackets! I do think Mrs. Bruni looks a bit wide, maybe due to the wide cropped sleeves? but it's still gorgeous. Mrs. Obama's coat rocks through and through. I love that material.. just wish she'd pulled her hair up to create a break between the shinny hair and coat.

I Thought that both ladies looked matronly.

(Mrs Obama looked nice in the photo with the Queen, though I felt that she played it too safe)

It’s a Tie. They both look great. I wish you would have shown also shown a picture of their dresses. These two women have a strong personal sense of style; both very classic but drastically different from each other. Personally I love Carla Bruni-Sarkozy has made wearing flats sexy, while Michelle Obama makes J.Crew look so hot.
