Madonna's new Louis Vuitton ads: Desperate or badass?

For those of you who don't follow all things fashion news, Madonna was recently named the face of Louis Vuitton's new ad campaign, which means she'll be hawking a bunch of outrageously overpriced bags and unwearable shoes in magazine spreads and on billboards all spring. The images—shot by photographer Steven Meisel—have recently leaked, revealing an ageless-looking Ms.Ciccone in a series of provocative, bendy poses straight out of an episode of America's Next Top Model. We're not sure what to think of these; the pictures seem equally empowering and degrading. On the one hand, Madonna looks amazing—most women would kill to have that body at age 50—and why not show it off? Then again, why would most 50-year-olds want to pose for a campaign that not-so-subtly sells merchandise through the image of their crotches?

Madonna is a skeletor crone... She needs to class it up and age gracefully. You can still be 50 and sexy and not dress like a frikn' 22 yr old club queen.

Hey wait a minute. Wasn't this the same pose that the America's Next Top Model contestant was criticized for? I think Mr. J said something like "what exactly are you trying to sell?". And then old Louis V goes and picks a similar shot for the ad. Hobo bag or Ho bag?

Jennifer, come on now. It takes a hellavuh lot of air brushing and subtle lighting to make Madge look ageless. I think she's quite pathetic and looks tired. Yes, she has a very toned body, but no matter how hard she works out each day, she'll never be the 22 year old she wants to recapture. Cher and Tina are still strutting their stuff and somehow come off as believable. Not so with Madonna.

This morning I read her daughter Lola has entered acting school. The show goes on.

Madonna is a style icon and you three seem to be jealous, haha. I hope to god I look like her when I'm her age!

I understand that point that she wants to fight the aging process, but do it with class Midge!

Buddhabrown beat me to it--yes, that's exactly what Sheena was criticized ofr, and the first thing that came to my mind as well. Plus, no, the skeletor look is not sexy.

Okay. She looks great. I also, however, think she's selling the Ho Bag. On the other hand, that's what she's always sold us, so no surprise there.

Jealous!! Girl r u crazy I'll look a thousand times better than her when I'm her age.

I hope I don't look like that mess of a woman when I get old.

Ignorance is bliss... No! AIRBRUSHING is bliss...

It's absolutely possible to be 50 and sexy and gorgeous...Madonna is NOT an example of that. Since when is having the body of 18-yr-old male wrestler supposed to be hot on a grown woman? Ewwwwww. I'd take Susan Sarandon over Madonna any day. I'd be afraid her giant man legs would squeeze the life out of me.
