A
bunch of articles have popped up on the net recently concerning
the push by fashion designers to put men in skirts. It seems that this effort is not just a pipe dream that goes nowhere, as in the past when some odd designer would show a few skirts in his/her men's collection. Now, men are actually beginning to appear in public wearing skirts; recent men in skirt sightings have occurred throughout the world and they are occurring more frequently. In addition to men in skirts, we also have:
There is not much left for men to borrow from milady's wardrobe. Are men becoming the new women? Will the feminization of men's fashions make it easier or harder for crossdressers? I guess we'll have to wait and see. T.R. Annie (original content here) |

Report AbuseIn my opinion this is just sick. It was bad enough that guys that they had to have both ears pierced. I'm sorry but I don't think seeing a guy in a skirt and high heels is something I would want my children to see. I don't care if this is a free country. There should be standards.

Report AbuseWeird! No girl wants to see her man in her clothes! If your trying to get some, don't dress from your girls closet.

Report AbuseMy boyfriend wears kilts often. I absolutely love it and I think it's quite sexy. He's not into guys or anything like that--he's just comfortable with who he is and in my opinion that's an amazing turn on for me.

Report AbuseNo, it's not a sequel to "Braveheart." According to New York magazine (http://nymag.com/daily/fashion/2008/07/are_you_ready_for_men_in_skirt_1.html), several men have been sighted on the streets of Europe wearing skirts. Not ironic skirts, not sarongs, not "I'm going to my cousin's Scottish wedding" kilts, but honest-to-goodness skirts.
New York magazine appears perplexed and apprehensive. "Don't get us wrong," the article says. "We're all for equality of the sexes, and if Yves Saint Laurent can put women in pantsuits, there's no reason other designers can't put men in skirts. We expect to see them on the men's runways from time to time. And we find it delightful when we do, but in a non-serious way. But now that it may be getting serious, we're a bit unsettled. We don't know if America is ready for her men to be traipsing around the streets in skirts."
