As many of you have pointed out, we here at Shine are a bit overly eager and quick to praise Mrs. Obama's usually impeccable style. So, it seems only fair to point out her occasional sartorial misses, too. And what a miss this is. I actually feel afraid of the outfit our first lady wore yesterday. Granted, she wasn't attending anything official, was just sightseeing in London alone, and one could argue that on her days off, Mrs. Obama can wear whatever the heck she wants.

But I just can't argue that. The ensemble at left is a disconnection from sanity. It involves a tunic with rows of sewn-on, cheap-looking silk flowers; a PLAID belt; unflattering, baggy-at-the-knees pants; and, wait, are those TWO cardigans??  Besides each piece being singularly ugly, the proportions manage to make our president's wife look both short and wide. It is one of the worst combinations of clothes and accessories I've ever seen.

That sound you hear? That's my fashion heart breaking.

Please, evil, bad-style Michelle Obama, what have you done with our first lady? Go away! You've tortured us enough! I want a return to pretty clothes, stat! (Though you could take Mobama's belts with you, Evil Style Twin. I'm getting a little sick of the belts.)

    I think that's one two-tone, reversable cardigan. As for the rest of it...Very colorful; maybe she let her daughters dress her?

    You forgot to mention the bad hairdo. This outfit makes her appear to have gained about 30 pounds - all below her infamous decorative belt. I'm luke warm about her generally, but will admit she (or her fashion adviser) has a true sense of style. Very classic. But this number? F-

    I think Michelle is trying to send a message here. Why else would she allow herself to be photographed like that? Maybe she wants people to stop writing about her clothes.

    Just like anyone, MO has good fashion days and bad fashion days. She is of course entitled to wear what she wants but I am wondering if she is working with a stylist or not.

    Some of her outfits, like the one above seem so off the mark. When I first saw this picture, I thought she is a little hippy and this top does nothing to flatter her- horizontal strips of appliques across her widest part of her body- just didn't make sense. And it just seemed a little too trendy. Some article I read said it was by a designer who contriuuted to the campaign so maybe she wanted to support him/her.

    I would also love to see her in a tailored jacket sometimes, which can still be worn casually, instead of a cardigans all the time.

    she is always look like crap to me the media is just in love with her because white act like they have never seen a black person before. you never talk about those huge thighs

    the single only non hideous item is the yellow cardigan. (which i dont think is reversible, i'm pretty sure that's ACTUALLY 2 cardigans). As for the rest...wtf??!?! It's got to be a joke, or maybe she really did let the daughters choose! But I bet even they'd do better than that.
