Momversation: What Do You Think of Plastic Surgery?

Botox and nose jobs and lipo, oh my!  Plastic surgery is popular in the United States; in 2007 alone, 11.7 million people had surgery in pursuit of the perfect nose, pouty lips, and smooth thighs.  But is it all just surface?  Daphne Brogdon of Cool Mom asks the panelists, "What do you think of cosmetic surgery?"

What's your take on plastic surgery?  Is it like coloring your hair?  A confidence boost?  Or is it all just an attempt to keep up with celebrity moms?  Join the Momversation.

I think it's a highly personal choice. For me, I would very much like a tummy tuck to be able to fit into clothing better and fell better about myself. It wouldn't be about losing weight, but getting rid of the excess skin from my childbearing years. It would be for me and me only, and I feel without the "overhang" I'd be more comfortable regardless of my size, because it is the tendency of my clothing to fold under it, I tend to get fungal infections, and I have to put deoderant stick there every day - I think this is all gross and don't want to deal with it.

The most beautiful women(and men) are natural beauties. Not perfect, natural. I think that is you have a feature that is keeping you from having a normal life, then yes, have the work done. Reconstructive surgery, yes. Expecting 50 year old women to look 26 is ridiculous and abusive. It is a form of societal abuse, and really designed to induce people to spend spend spend on fashion and cosmetics.

I use good products and I have nice clothes, but I worked very very hard for them. I made alot of sacrifices for them; so I enjoy that, working out and looking nice, but I see it as a healthy form of self expression. All of the rest of it; cutting yourself to ribbons to hang on to a career or a man is sad. It is very demoralizing.

If you dress as well as you can afford, get a good haircut, take care fo your teeth and skin, and be as fit as possible, with some great sex and love in your life..you will look gorgeous!

Only God can create beauty, it is his masterwork; beauty and love. It is your job, if you have it; to take care of it!

My whole life I was told that my features were "distinguished". It was just a nicer way than saying very noticeable. By the time I turned 25 I decided the hell with what other people were saying....I needed to do this for myself. I ended up getting a nose job and couldn't be happier with the results.

IMO the people that say "natural is better" have never lived with the constant fear of people staring at that one thing. People who are self conscious are battling this within themselves...and to decide on cosmetic surgery is purely ones own decision. No one has the right to judge what someone decides to do. Its hard enough to go under the knife just because you feel you don’t look good.

A waste to you......but then again, that is your opinion.

BTW....saying "we all have the right to judge others...you on the other hand have the right to accept or reject our judgement".... you really think that is a nice statement? Do you think you can just walk around saying oah she is good looking and she isn't. Hmmmmmmmm....

And as for a waste of money...I don't know any guy who will honestly say that breast implants are a "waste" of money. Unless you just do not like breasts..but then again...that's your decision.

I personally don't give a s**t what other people think of me. Even though I have plenty of things that could be fixed such as my large ears and small breasts. You have to learn to love yourself for who you are and what you have. I think that inless if you need plastice surgery to live a normal life because some deformaty that it's pointless cause you will just find something else you are unhappy with. But like the opinion of everyone elas on here it means little because you are going to think what you want while I remain true to my thoughts as well.
