More dumb shoes: Madonna's gun heels stir up controversy

Madonna ignited a huge scandal this week and, no, it wasn't about her just-announced upcoming divorce, who she might be dating next, her relationship with A-Rod, Kabbalah, or the silly outfits she slithers around in during her Sticky & Sweet tour. Nope, this was all about the Chanel shoes Madge wore this week to the Filth and Wisdom movie screening in New York.

Members of the British anti-violence group Mothers Against Murder And Aggression were outraged over the singer's choice of footwear adorned with a gun-shaped stiletto. According to the Daily Express, one member said, "I am horrified that Madonna can see these shoes as fashion. Celebrities have a massive part to play and an icon like Madonna should have more sense. It's uncaring. Surely she reads the news and realises that young people are dying every day."

Hmmm. I can't tell if I think it's irresponsible for a 50-something celebrity to wear shoes bearing the symbol of a deadly weapon. I do, however, think it's kind of lame. But probably people should lighten up on the whole "violence" angle?
Your thoughts?
Oh, and here's the full outfit:

The shoes are slammin! They're also original. Can't people just have fun with clothing or shoes? There are more serious matters in the world don't cha think? Lihten up people!

I love the shoes. I don't think wearing a gun shaped stiletto promotes violence. I think it takes something that has been vilified and makes it fresh and beautiful. Kudos to Madonna for wearing them!

They are AWESOME, hello fashion is all about being daring. I would perfer them in another color, but they're still great. If people can where brass knuckle rings, and gun belt buckels, why the hell can't "gun heels" be a fashion statement?

There is a picture of these shoes, except in a lighter color, in November's Glamour magazine and my reaction to seeing them on Madonna is the same as it was when I saw them in the magazine. They're ugly and stupid looking. I don't think they're controversial though. They're no more offensive than a t-shirt with a gun printed on it. They're just proof that having money doesn't necessarily mean you have good taste.

Madonna knows what she's doing and knows this would create a fuss.it's part of the game in publicity.

HONESTLY I FEEL THE'RE CREATIVE THE SHOES WOULD LOOK BETTER AND STAND OUT MORE IN ANOTHER COLOR AND THE OUTFIT SHE HAS ON I WOULD HAVE NEVER NOTICED THAT THE HEEL EVEN LOOKED LIKE A MINI GUN... ITS NOT ANY DIFFERENT FROM SOMEONE WEARING A GUN ON THEIR BELT BUCKLE.
