More dumb shoes: Madonna's gun heels stir up controversy

Madonna ignited a huge scandal this week and, no, it wasn't about her just-announced upcoming divorce, who she might be dating next, her relationship with A-Rod, Kabbalah, or the silly outfits she slithers around in during her Sticky & Sweet tour. Nope, this was all about the Chanel shoes Madge wore this week to the Filth and Wisdom movie screening in New York.

Members of the British anti-violence group Mothers Against Murder And Aggression were outraged over the singer's choice of footwear adorned with a gun-shaped stiletto. According to the Daily Express, one member said, "I am horrified that Madonna can see these shoes as fashion. Celebrities have a massive part to play and an icon like Madonna should have more sense. It's uncaring. Surely she reads the news and realises that young people are dying every day."

Hmmm. I can't tell if I think it's irresponsible for a 50-something celebrity to wear shoes bearing the symbol of a deadly weapon. I do, however, think it's kind of lame. But probably people should lighten up on the whole "violence" angle?
Your thoughts?
Oh, and here's the full outfit:
