On the new cover of ELLE: J.Lo talks marriage, kids, glamour and what it's like to go back to the 'hood

Jennifer Lopez is on the October cover of ELLE magazine looking, let's face it, amazingly gorgeous, sexy and a whole helluva lot younger than her 39 years. In the accompanying interview, the singer seems relaxed and, weirdly, not all that guarded for a woman who's lived in the public eye for the past 15 years. And, even though there's nothing tremendously illuminating here, something about J.Lo remains really magnetic and likeable. It's as if you want her to be happy, perhaps because she seems so happily suited to celebrity and brings a glamorous, shut-up-and-smile, Old Hollywood sensibility to the role. After the jump, excerpts from the ELLE interview. You can read the entire story by clicking here.

On her style: I've always loved the glamour...I can't shy away from that. I've always been very girly.

On a recent shoot in Washington Heights with Oscar de la Renta:
We were in the hoody! All kinds of locals hanging around, eating out of paper bags, thinking, what is going on here? It was crazy.

On being pregnant and commissioning a book of photos of herself for Marc two weeks before giving birth
: I was like, How am I going to rock this moment of my life?...I felt very womanly. Marc was in a dream. He loved it.

On not being able to get pregnant right away: We knew nothing was wrong with either one of us. I had been checked, and he had kids already. I knew something is not ready here, in my head or in my life, and when it is, I know it's going to happen.

On first realizing she was pregnant: I was sitting down doing hair and makeup and I felt a flutter. The weirdest little flourish. My makeup artist said, "What's the matter?" I didn't say anything, but in my head, I was like, I have life inside me!

On her pregnancy: We came off tour and I said "I did the superwoman thing, I finished the tour-- now I need you to take care of me. I love doing things for you; if I am not cooking, then I am picking out a shirt. But this is the first time in my life where I am just going to be a little bit selfish. I don't know if I am going to have kids again, so I want it to be a beautiful experience. I don't want to have any drama. I want to just be smiling every day.

Dont get me wrong most of the times I like her movies. But she really is a over rated movie star that always seems to go out in public half naked.I read she went to a store and wanted management to close it down so she could shop. When management said no she demanded that she get a 50 percent discount. I didnt realize she was that hard up!!!!!!!!!!

Jennifer Lopez looks beautiful. She is so Happy now that she is a Mom. I do think she is an over rated actress but I still like her. I liked a few movies of hers but it seems to me she sort of plays the same role in all of them. She is the same person in each one. She does not change personality or look for any real roles. It's hard to emplain, it's like she is almost playing herself in each role. Same laugh, same smile, same everything. There are actress that actually transform when they play certain characters that you forget it's actually them. I guess he hasn't really gotten any GREAT roles yet. So that is why I don't know why Hollywood would rank her as an A list actress. She is a Dancer for sure, and is great with perfume and clothes. Singing and acting I'm not so sure. But I love her because she is doing her thing and making it and living out her dreams and that's important. She is an inspiration.

She looks wonderful and I do agree that she has always been very honest and genuine. Anyone who has worked so hard to make it like she has deserves to feel like a queen.

jlo...hmmmm Way over rated!!! Cannt act, very fake and yes she usually does ask stores to shut down so she can shop. She can dance but she slipped and is tryn Desperately to get back on the cover of some magazines. Most are over her...really over her! Old news you know, she just seems shallow. But thats my opinion, whether she's a good mom and wife I dont know and really dont care either.

actually, erika, I met penelope cruz and she's not as pretty in person. it's ALL makeup that makes her so appealing.

I think jlo is gorgeous. and stylish and brave. can't sing worth a darn, but as least she does her own thing and makes her own way.

Sorry but I am just not a fan of hers. She still wears fur which shows me how uncompassionate she is.

I'm not normally one to say negative things about celebrities whom I don't even know and I normally stick up for celebrities when others are "bashing" them, but JLo is one who has just always bugged me. Her style is not attractive (she seems to try too hard in what she wears, wears too much makeup, her face is always too shiny on purpose, has unflattering and severe tightly-pulled-back styles for events - she should really wear her hair down more, or in a low, loose ponytail instead of high, tight updos), and she wears and promotes fur. She seems unapproachable. She just comes across as an overdressed celebrity who thinks she is better than everyone else. I'm not saying she does think that, that's just what I think she comes across at when I've seen her in the media. And I just don't get her appeal. Now don't get me wrong, she looks a heckuva lot better than I ever will, I'm not celebrity material, but for some reason she just bugs me. I wish she would listen to the fans who send her letters asking her to remove fur from her clothing line, but she ignores them (according to an article I read). I guess we all have different tastes. Some people love her old-fashioned, over-the-top and ostentatious glamour, some people (like me) prefer the more modern and casual looks of say, Gwyneth Paltrow, Keira Knightly, and Jennifer Garner. And I also love the classic style of Salma Hayek, much more so than JLo's look. Salma's look is classier, so is Penelope Cruz's look. JLo's look is a little too garish. I can't imagine her in sneakers and a t-shirt, natural makeup, and natural-looking hair, but that would be much better!

Erika, Penelope Cruz is Not beautiful. (She resembles a mouse and that's ok but mice are nothing ever more than cute:)

I really don't care anything much about this article. I don't know much about Jlo either... I do think she has a sweet face.
