One Dirt-Cheap Dress, 4 Chic Holiday Looks

What if we told you that a single dress can carry you through all of the holiday season festivities this year—at a guiltless $38 no less?

It’s true! To look smart and on-trend from Thanksgiving through New Year’s Eve all you need is this cotton Spandex jersey double U-neck long sleeve mini dress from American Apparel. Embellish it in the following four very different ways and you’ll never look like you’ve worn the same thing twice.

Give It Edge
Command the crowd with tough additions. Look for biker-inspired accessories with metallic detailing like zipper or chain accents. Embrace leather in the form of short gloves, moto jackets, and over-the-knee boots. Shopaholics at Kaboodle advise going with a beaded link necklace, gold-plated ring, and studded moto boot to send this LBD over the edge.

Get Glam
The point here is to hang heavy on decadent accessories. Channel classic icons like Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly, and don’t be afraid to pile on the diamonds and faux fur. Or add a dash of elegance to this dress with some pearl stud earrings and a swipe of MAC’s Russian Red Lipstick. With a few strategically placed statement pieces, this LBD will go from new-purchase to Old-Hollywood glam in 60 seconds.

Go Girly
Get in touch with your sugar-and-spice-and-everything-nice side by packaging this dress in party pink! Think girly accents like a square cubic zirconia ring with a pave border, Susan Pumps in Plum, and Sugar lip gloss by Fresh in a shimmering sheer light pink color, like Sugar Fairy. Check more ruffles and sparkles here, and don’t forget to stay warm with a pretty cardigan, such as one of these inspired by Emma Pillsbury’s character on Glee, or a ‘60s style coat a la Mad Men.

Be Boho Chic
For a bohemian look, tie a square floral scarf around your neck, pop some peace sign jewelry on your fingers, and slip into a pair of gladiator sandals. The laid-back accessories make the look! For cold-weather success, add colored tights and get in touch with nature by layering on some foliage-inspired pieces.

I have the short sleeve version of this dress and I get so much use out of it. It's seriously a great basic! I need to pick up the long sleeve version for sure.
