Pointy bras: Iconic and hot or dated and impractical?
editor
Between the popularity of
"Mad Men," stars like Katy Perry and Lady Gaga donning
retro styles, and the resurgence of Madonna-esque
Jean-Paul Gaultier styles, the resurgence of bullet bras seems
almost inevitable. London shops have seen cone-shaped bra sales up
as much as 33% from last year, and experts are attributing the
trend to a focus on women's curves typically prevalent during
economic crisis. "Throughout the last century the trend for
feminine pointy shaped bras experienced a renaissance following
times of a toughened economy, marking a return of unabashed
femininity as women seek to have more fun with fashion as a form of
escapism," says a spokesperson for UK retailer John Lewis.
We've always loved the look of a fuller figure--perhaps a more
prominent bust will lead the way. Pointy bras were on many a
Spring/Summer runway, but we kind of love the way
Marilyn
Monroe wore one to sex up a basic crew neck sweater.
With all the newer nipple-concealing, cup-lifting,
cleavage-enhancing bra technology, would you embrace this pointy
boobed look from the past? [
