Push Out The Dirt With A Laxative Facial

Here’s a different kind of poop facial. Swiss Kriss is an herbal laxative that’s been around forever and includes flakes of dried senna leaves, licorice root, fennel, dandelion, peppermint, and peach leaves. (I keep wanting to call is Swiss Miss, but the taste is sooo far away from that.) Today I noticed on the box (uhm, that you know, was in my friend‘s medicine cabinet), that one side includes directions for a facial sauna. Dump the box into a pan of simmering water, and stand over it with a towel under your head. The process claims that the herbalized steam “penetrates and cleanses every pore. The beads of perspiration coming from the open pores loosen accumulated make-up, rancid oils, and every bit of dirt in just minutes.” Intrigued I tried it.

I lasted for about 20 seconds before the “herbalized steam” caused a coughing fit and a sharp fear set in that the laxative going straight to my pores would cause a different type of cleansing. It’s worth a try, however, to take that constipated look off your face. [$8.12, LuckyVitamin.com]

you can do herbal facial steams with any assortment of herbs that you have at home... instead of using that stuff.

I do them with lavender, rosemary, rose water, vanilla... sometimes a little orange or lemon zest...

the whole point is to make your face sweat and open the pores with the steam.... if you do it with your own herbs it probably isn't as pungent...

Since coffee helps prevent skin cancer, when I make my expresso in the a.m. I put my face above the steam (not too close!) and voila! instant facial.

Doing something similar with just boiling water is good for your sinuses too. It helps loosen the gunk when you have a cold or chronic sinus problems. Plus the steam is good for your face. Just wash your face when your done and rinse it with cold water to keep your pores tight. This will reduce the appearance of them.

My friend introduced me to this stuff years ago. Her skin is flawless! They sell it at Mother's Market.

Side note, this stuff works TOO well as a laxative... I tried it once... and never will again. Very scary. Only use it for facials.
