The ceremony was simple, yet beautiful. The outdoor setting added to the basic simplicity by tossing in birds and squirrels and purple flowers and a touch of blue sky peeking in through the huge old trees with their hanging moss. It made me want to get married again. Okay, maybe not.
Many people stopped to watch the young couple exchange vows. Only in Savannah would on-lookers be welcomed at a private affair such as a wedding. Together, curious tourists and invited guests combined to fill the square and it's surrounding side-streets to watch in enchanted wonder as the lovers began their life together. Savannah loves a good wedding. It makes for great conversation and idle gossip the day after while tossing back a few cold ones at the local pub. It'll even make the society page in the newspaper. And I got to watch it from my private perch, completely unnoticed.
Oh, to be young again. Just the thought of it is a pleasant fiction....
