Sexy Twillight Saga: New Moon
It doesn't really matter what the critics write -The Twilight Saga: New Moon is going to be one of the most successful films of the year. It already is, with opening weekend ticket sales setting new records and illustrating just how much buying power the female American consumer really has. And for all those rushing to see the latest installment of the Twilight Saga on its opening weekend, it will be nothing short of perfectly satisfying.
The rest of us, well, we can grin and bear it. Especially with so many beautiful and stylish actors in the firm. Expect teen fashion in 2010 to be heavily influenced by this movie's cast.
More New Moon: New Moon is actually an improvement on its predecessor, Twilight, as it manages to shed some of the nervy awkwardness that characterized the latter while maintaining a faithfulness to the text upon which it's based. Director Chris Weitz must have known, going in, exactly who his audience was: the Twilight reader who wants things by the book. And so they are.
The plot: Edward leaves Bella because he wants her to have a normal life. She gets horribly, miserably depressed and stops washing her hair. She gets very close to Jacob Black. Jacob Black takes his shirt off. It stays off. Bella entertains the notion of making out with Jacob Black, who protects her in Edward's absence. Then Bella has to go save Edward because he's going to commit vampire suicide in Italy. All of this is presented in squeal-worthy fashion, of course.
