Short Hair- Adrogynous Sexy or just plain Mannish?

Rihanna (I don't like her personally, but she is one of the major faces sporting the short hair trend.)
Audrey Tatou (She's a good actress in my opinion.)
Agyness Deyn (The Brilliantly Boyish British Beauty)

So, it seems that nowadays all female "Trendsetters" have short hair. From Agyness Deyn (British Super model-also my favourite model and a major influence in my own personal fashion designes) to Audry Tatou (French Actress) to Rihanna (R&B singer). Naturally, after seeing Agyness Deyn with her edgy 'do last year, I was inspired to cut off my long locks in favour of a more edgy, hard core style. My problem? My boyfriend. He is currently in college in VT, While I'm still in highschool in another state (Yes, I'm young, but I am an aspiring fashion designer at 16 and I know my stuff. And Yes, it's a long distance relationship, but we've been together for almost a year and we're both happy "Taking it slow"). When I told him about my desire to cut off my hair -donating it to "Locks of Love" of course- and getting a short, edgy, choppy hairstyle, he had one reaction. "Oh, please Don't! All the pictures you've shown me of that short haired model (Agyness Deyn) you like make her look like a man! Please don't, I love you the way you are!"

Dispite his near-begging, I did it.

Now, I understood that I wasn't going to look exactly like Agyness, but I still wanted to experiment with some play on gender. Luckiy for me, I can pull it off. I am curvy, and it is the perfect hairstyle for my more edgy-punky style.

But what if it had been a disaster? What if my hair didn't look edgy and sexy and androgynous like I'd wanted? What if I'd just ended up looking mannish? Who can pull off the shorter boy-cut hair and still look delightfully feminine? Size 0 models are one thing, but I'm a dress size 4 or 5 and pants size 6. They weigh 115lb and are typically at least 5'10", but I'm 139lb (Give or take depending)and 5'4 (Yes, I'm confident enough to admit my weight, and I do diet and play soccer). What sorts of body types work? Why? And how many of you readers have or are thinking about getting a short hair-cut? Does anyone find them sexy? And finally, when you see a girl with short hair, do you think "Oh cute", or "Oh, she looks like a boy."?

When I have short hair or wearing a shorter hair style, being above my shoulders, I've always been told it looks sexy. However, I think these women carry themselves with an amazing confidence. My theory is carry yourself with confidence and a mesmerizing persona and guys and girls alike will find you amazingly sexy. The shorter hair also gives you an opportunity to play around with sexier make-up and play up your out fits. It gives you an opportunity to bring attention to other features of yours, say you have striking toned shoulders and it was covered with your longer hair. Short hair is fun to have. Plus from a feminist stand point it takes you out from under the oppressive thumb of men who think women should have long hair. I remember when I was going to get my hair cut shorter recently and I had hair past my shouders at the time, I was told by a man not to do it because he likes long hair. I said, well, I don't have a boyfriend and I'm not a conformist to what a man "thinks" a woman should look like. Yes, I read way to into this, but this has always been my theory on personal style. As long as it is a style that fits you and your personality, you are good to go.

I love long hair and I have long hair. I have also had a "bob" cut, which I loved also and was much less hassle.

I love my short hair...I find it to be sexy and just easy. I get up and it's wash and go from there. It's naturaly curly and I wear it jet black...goes well with my carmal skin. Kitten
