I just sat in the chair.  I'd come in for a trim, but as I waited, I saw a long time friend getting her hair cut in the cutest little pixie cut. Short.  Sassy.  Hmmmmm.  I knew I couldn't go that short, though.  Too daring for me.  But the longer I sat staring, the more my mind tumbled.  It's three degrees out.  Am I crazy?  Yep.  I went about as short as this photo of Kelly Pickler, in my auburn color.  But my stylist showed me how to piece out, mousse it and flip the ends.  Results:  Short, sassy hair that a colleague said took ten years off my age!  My husband, who loved my long locks, what would his reaction be?  It must be the right cut, because when I arrived home, he grinned and said it was time for a date with his new hot chick!

I'd just spoken in an assembly that day about taking the good risks in life and going for it.  Maybe that was my motivator.  Take some risks with your hair.  It's liberating!  I felt like a brand new woman.  And if you don't like your results?  So what?!  It's just hair!  It will grow back.

    You go girl!! I changed hair dressers about a year ago. Actually my hair dresser of 20 years passed away. Had my hair done in layers and highlights for the first time in a long time and found that I liked it much better! You're right, it's only hair!

    A couple of years ago, I saw a picture in a magazine. I took it to my stylist who told me it was a layered point cut. I said, " Let's go for it!". I just love it. I have to keep it trimmed every five weeks, but it's very casual and free. Many times, I just wash and let it dry on the way to work.

    Good for you! I got a new haircut about a year ago and it has been so much fun. My stylist has been trying to get me to go for the highlights, but I've been afraid. Maybe I will give it a try now.
