Should men wear heels?

Sales of men's high-heeled shoes are up in British department stores, according to a story by the UK Telegraph, and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy is believed to be to blame. It seems her husband, the diminutive President Sarkozy, has been been donning two-inch platform shoes (while Ms. Sarkozy wears flats) to balance out their height differential during official outings.  The look, such as it is, has gained attention among Europe's short and stylish and UK businessmen have apparently followed, um, suit—the popularity of shoes like Jeffrey West's "Decadent and Dandy" lace-ups which sport a two-inch heel, has surged in recent weeks. During the 70's men wore high heeled shoes, even though the style did not last long. I think men have more sense than women when it comes to choosing comfortable footwear. How many guys want to go around in ill-fitting and uncomfortable shoes, like the ladies?

On a boot it looks fine, but on a lace up dress shoe um, not hot.

Heels on a work boot or cowboy boot have a purpose, stabilizing the foot on a ladder, etc. or in a stirrup. But on a dress shoe, over an inch would look funny.

If my foot was supposed to be in a heels up position, I'd have been born that way.

Fashion is anything they can convince people to buy (whether it looks silly, damages your body, etc.). Kinda like some dress shoes that have a long pointy toe - LOL - they look like elf shoes !!!

But hey, who am I to judge fashion? I like comfortable pragmatic clothing, especially shoes. You can add neckties to the list of dumb things people wear - why put an uncomfortable noose around your neck (ever notice we loosen them the second we get a chance?) and what function do they serve, but to get in your way?

Those are some hideous men shoes. They definitely don't look like something the average guy would wear. I can't see it becoming a long term trend.
