Should thong showing be fined?

Thanks to the increased popularity in high-waisted jeans, thongs popping out in the back of a woman's denim is slightly less of a problem. That said, we still cringe at the sight of a g-string in public. When wearing low rise jeans, having your undies peek out is sometimes unavoidable, but this is wear a longer tee covering your waist comes in. Trust us, you may think revealing a hint of satin or lace is hot, but look at this picture of Britney Spears on the left. Ew. Not cute.

The city of Yakima, Washington is fed up with the panty party and has imposed a fine of up to $750 on women caught showing off "cleavage of the buttocks." This includes either see-through dresses or G-strings, which officials have deemed offensive to the public. In addition to the hefty fine, women caught revealing their backsides face up to 90 days in jail.

Do you agree with this new law? Do you think any other "fashion crimes" deserve a punishment, and if so which ones? [The Sun]

Along with males that "sag" their jeans down to below their butt... :/ I may sound like an old fogie when I say this... but I am tired of looking at peoples underwear... I really just want to walk up to people and depants them since they aren't wearing their pants at least NEAR their natural waist line... :/ I think humiliation would be a better suited punishment than jail time... :/

This is how I feel about the matter.

I think the morality and values in this country have gone to the dogs. What happened to taking some pride in your appearance? Society has gotten so wrapped up in everyone has "A RIGHT" to do ...x,y and z, BUT lets be honest. Putting someone in jail for indecent exposure ( is that what they would call it) where do you think the whole "pants below the waist" thing came from? INMATES/prisoners. YEAP, they had to have a way to indicate they were in a certain click, and of course those inmates got out of lock up and brought it to main street USA and now we deal with having to see boys and girls showing their "ass"ets. I don't hink putting them in jail will solve it but if we start putting a $$$$$ amount and hit them wher it hurts that might start something, as well.

I think it is tacky to have your underwear showing. If you wear low waisted jeans wear low waisted underwear. Sometimes you cannot prevent a little peek, but we shouldn't be able to even tell what kind of underwear you have on because we shouldn't be able to see that much of them. I do think a fine is a bit excessive though. Are we going to fine everything that is in poor taste fashion wise? And when did the real police become the fashion police? I think they have more important things to occupy their time.

This is asinine. If the cops have that much free time, I doubt they are doing their job anyway. And, the people of Yakima need hobbies - one that doesn't involve staring at women's butts.

If you find someone looks offensive, don't look. Gawddammit people need to grow up. I'm ashamed America has become a nation of whiny, bureaucratic control freaks that pass a law every time they disagree with someone else's lifestyle.

Jeez, I hate low-riders. And thongs. I know many people like them, but I never have--I mean, low riders look good if you've got the perfect figure and you're standing up straight, but they are so uncomfortable, and thongs...well, I'll just stick with, I've never liked them. And I REALLY never liked the combo--so I'm all for the new fine. It really is indecent, and I think the city has every right to expand their indecent exposure laws to include butt cleavage--on either gender.

i love low-riding jeans. to me they are comfy. and i also wear thongs. i dont like them peeking out and showing everyone what kind of underwear i wear, but sometimes it happens. i think this law is lame! seriosuly, we have bigger issues to deal with and yet they focus on this...wow....people should be allowed to wear what they want and not have to be fined for it.

i live in southern california and if we had this law, pretty much every girl would be fined or in jail. this town must be really conservative or something.

Doktor Evol... I have to disagree with you on one point... it's hard to ignore something when it's EVERYWHERE... I go to the local mall and I see more underwear walking around than I do in the underwear sections of a store... :/ I have to see when I am driving to and from work... I have to see when I go to Sonic for a drink... I am tired of seeing peoples underwear...
