Skin Is In

Whether you like it or not, leggings have become a must-have style staple for any fashion-conscious style maven. Pair with a dress, an oversize T-shirt, or wear them to the gym, they can be worn virtually anyway, anywhere these days. But we're not gonna lie: The first time we saw the skintight material worn as pants, we were a little stunned. Was she going to yoga, or heading to work? It seems it's finally come to the point, as far as fashion is concerned, where anything goes.

But how did we get here? There was once a time where having your ankles exposed was considered too risqué. Obviously many barriers and social issues have been crossed to accept and tolerate these revealing fashions, but it didn't just happen over night. Or so it seems...

Never had anyone dared to reveal so much skin until the counter-culture revolution of the 1960s had fashion going from ballroom gowns to miniskirts. The resistance that people felt toward the social and cultural institutions that had never before been questioned was reflected in the unrest that marks this time period. People wanted to revolt, they wanted a change, and fashion was one way they did so.

Take a look at Modelinia's third installation of the History of Models to see just how fashion changed during this tumultuous time.
