Tell the truth now, Are you still tanning?

We know we shouldn't but so many of us still do: TAN. This past weekend I was at the beach with the family. With all of the information out there telling people not to tan because it can cause skin cancer and aging of the skin, I have to tell you that as much as I can see, people are still tanning.

I admit I still lather up with oil with the small SPF of 4 and glisten in the sun. I do make sure to heavily arm my face, neck and especially my nose with SPF of 50 before heading out to hang with the sun. I love the sun though, it's calming. I can read, listen to my iPod or do nothing if I want and be perfectly happy lying in the sun.

With magazines, bloggers and scientific research proving that sun can lead to skin cancer, why do we submit ourselves to the possibility of exposing ourselves to something deadly?

I haven't in a few years... it's not because I don't want to but because I don't have time to... I have tried many selftanners (lotions and foams) in the last few years and they all end up looking very VERY fake, streaky, and blotchy... I have only tanned in a tanning bed a few times but that was because I didn't want to burn on my honeymoon in Jamaica last summer... If I could find the time to tan I would... I love the sun, I love the warmth... so not being out in the sun is not an option for me... will I do more to prevent damage.. yes... but that doesn't mean I am never going to go for that true sun-kissed look anymore...

Cuz your idiots who eventually love the leather look and moles and cancers that will grow on your skin, funny how things change, back in the old days, milk white skin was seen as beautiful now everyone wants to look like leather face from Texas Chainsaw, well, it's your body! We're all gonna die anyways, right.

No! I will never tan. Skin cancer runs not only in my family, but other families as well. When you have a family member who has to remove a piece of their face because they did tan then people will stop tanning.

Now that tanning beds are more prevalent we will see more cases. That's what happens when people don't cherish who they are and their skin color and would rather be someone else instead of their own individual self.

I've never deliberately tanned. I get some color during outdoor activity, but you couldn't pay me to "lay out" or get in a tanning bed. I love my pale skin, and I'm not about to risk skin cancer for some arbitrary marker of attractiveness. My grandfather died from malignant melanoma, and that's something I can't knowingly expose myself to.

I am the same way Leslie. I never really have time to lay out either. I dont do the extreme either way: tanning or over-protecting my skin. I want the Vit D!

I use self tanners. I know they look fake and are not as pretty as real tans but I won't have wrinkles or skin cancer either.

Nope! I'm happy being the palest person around. I hate sunburns and have a family history of skin cancer, so it would be really stupid of me to tan.

I'm not trying rag on anyone's personal beauty choices but I think the idea of tanning AND purposely trying to make yourself look paler is ridiculous. At a preteen age, I was so sick of being pale, I just used self tanners to no avail. I'm happy being pasty and I don't care if it makes me look "sickly". I don't see why tanning booths are still legal...bleh

For all of you that want to look tan without the health issues, look up Tomas tanning system on the web. I have NEVER found another self tanner that looks so real without the organgey streaks or stains. It comes with special gloves and a way to put on your hands and feet. It is not expensive - you will love it!
