The 20 Best Skin Cities (and Some of the Worst)

Most of us know how bad pollution can be for both the Earth and our lungs, and if you read Product Fiend, you're likely aware of how bad it is for your skin, too. If not, here are the basics: air pollution can be one of the main causes of premature aging, and can even exacerbate eczema. The chemical agents associated with pollutants enter into our body via breathing and affect our lungs, eyes, nose, and can create skin allergies. Oh and P.S.: ozone, the basic element in smog, can lead to skin cancer. The skin, being that great big largest organ, means it suffers the most.

With that in mind, here is a list of places not necessarily known for, um, a bunch of spas or any excess of beauty products, but according to the American Lung Association, are top notch for having the least pollution, effectively making these the best skin cities in the U.S.! Check them out...

Brownsville-Harlingen-San Benito, Texas
Colorado Springs, Colo.
Duluth-Superior, Minn.-Wis.
Elkhart-Goshen, Ind.
Eugene-Springfield, Ore.
Fargo-Moorhead, N.D.-Minn.
Flagstaff, Ariz.-Utah
Greeley, Colo.
Honolulu, Hawaii
Laredo, Texas
Lincoln, Neb.
Medford-Ashland, Ore.
Portland-Salem, Ore.-Wash.
Salinas, Calif.
San Francisco
San Luis Obispo-Atascadero-Paso Robles, Calif.
Santa Cruz-Watsonville, Calif.
Sioux Falls, S.D.
Spokane, Wash.

Ironically, turns out the city where people seem to care the most about their skin is also the worst one to live in. Not only is L.A. and Riverside/Orange County the most polluted place in the U.S., California cities make up five of the top 10 worst air quality list. Maybe all the toxins from the plastic surgery contribute to the problem?

    Yeah! Colorado Springs made the list! I must say though, most of my good skin comes from my mom.
