The Easiest Way to Look More Awake and Just Plain Prettier

I know we've got a few lipstick fans out there (some pretty vocal ones, actually), but for me, it's all about the eyes. From trying out a new mascara to finding the perfect shade of shadow to make my peepers pop (try saying that 10 times fast), you might say I'm a bit obsessed.

It doesn't help that there are a ton of awesome tips and tricks out there to fuel the obsession (or maybe it does? Let's face it, there are worse things to be obsessed with, right?). Check out some of my favorites below:

1. Here's a trick I learned backstage at Fashion Week: mix a pearlescent highlighter with your eye cream to give your whole eye area a glossy shimmer. If that's not your thing, you could always try an eyeshadow with a bit of shimmer like this one.

2. Try lining your eyes with a colored pencil that plays up your eye color, like plum for green eyes or blue for light brown peepers. If you're wondering what color would go best with your eyes, click here.

3. A smoky eye is fun, but a smoky eye in a color other than black (like blue, gray, purple, green, whatever!) is even better.

I agree!. I love playing up my eyes and I have found that other colors for the "smokey" effect are great. I have blue eyes so I use gray or purple.

I love my eyes more than my lips, so I usually play up the eyes. And stunning eyes are a lot more special than a perfect pout. ^^

well the one thing that catches everyones attention first are my eyes...especially if i make them look nice, n i put more eye make-up then anything else. i always find something nicer or cooler to wear on my eyes, n some stuff i like i dont think i can pull off... i love make-up.

putting eye liner only on the outside (not near the tear duct) of your lashes helps make your eyes look more open/big and helps to make you look awake. also, put mascara on this section only too

I agree with you, i pat alot of attention to my eyes. I usually only use chapstick (strawberry) for my lips. My mom says that she is jealous of my green/blue eyes.

Wow! Well, you learn something new everyday! I'm definitely going to try out the "plum eyeliner" suggestion against my hazel eyes to bring out the green. It's gotta be better than those annoying green cosmetic contacts that I paid for. I still can't get those things in without a fight! *lol*

only line the top lid. lining the bottom lid accentuates the dark circles under the eyes. if you must line the bottom of the eyes, use a white or nude color to open up the eye and give a more awake, bright eyed appearance. also, use mascara on top lashes only. these tricks will help minimize fine lines, bags, and dark circles.
