The one grunge style I can get behind: Dark floral dresses

I know I've talked about this a lot here, but bear with me: I still want a vintage floral dress. Only this time I want one that's fitted, darker, and more—I absolutely cannot believe I'm about to say this—grunge. Pieces like this, this, and this, where the dense prints are almost an afterthought, and the emphasis is on the contrast of sweet flowers in an otherwise dark outfit. I know exactly what I'd wear with these dresses, because honestly, I've done it once before—an oversize grandpa cardigan, super-black tights, darkish lips, straight hair and ... some kind of heels. Because the only thing I refuse to go back to in this grunge redux odyssey is my once-ubiquitous Dr. Martens.

Ready to reprise another grunge favorite? Here are some way to give a new, modern spin to the classic red-plaid button-down.

Lol, well we knew grunge style would start creeping back one day, like everything else! Too bad a few years ago I finally got rid of most of my old grunge wear (which I'd held on to for so long for sentimental reasons!) The only piece I have left is the plaid flannel I was wearing when I met my future husband! Of course, that shirt I will never get rid of. Hmmmm, maybe it's time to raise it from the dead? Or, maybe not. Frankly, I feel a bit too old now (oh, wait, let's say too mature now, not old!) to reanimate my grunge frankenstein. Well, maybe if I pair the flannel with my Lollapalooza 1992 tee, and go for a real retro trip, lol.

Yeah, I hate to say it but that dress looks way more grandma than grunge.
