Today in random: They're EXHIBITING* Sharon Tate's clothes
Do you remember tragic, ridiculously beautiful Sharon Tate? She was the
young actress
married to director Roman Polanski who was horribly murdered (slaughtered,
really) in 1969 by the Manson family when she was 8.5 months pregnant.
Now, nearly 30 years later—and the details are scant—it looks as if
Debra Tate, Sharon Tate's sister, will
auction off EXHIBIT a
trunk's worth of her sibling's clothes in L.A. later this summer (Debra
also sells Sharon Tate
mouse pads,
clocks, and
license plate frames).
Two questions:
1. Is this tacky?
2. Is it wrong that I kind of want this

I don't care what you say, New York Times: I am not giving up my dresses*Correction. I initially read this news wrong and for some unknown reason I thought there was an auction. As far as I—and any other news reports—know this is just an exhibit later this summer. That doesn't mean that Debra Tate is not selling mouse pads with her sister's likeness emblazoned on them, but it probably does mean she's not profiting from the sale of her sister's wardrobe. I regret the error.

I don't know if tacky is the word. To me it is definitely creepy. I can't hear the name Sharon Tate with out thinking of the horrible way she was murdered.

Debra must be warped. It is bad enough that everyone knows the story - now she decides to sell the clothes she has been hording for 30 years?
She needs to get a life (and a job!!) and stop using her sister.

#1 No, after all this time let's remember her life and not the tragic end. Don't add anymore negative to the world. Focus on the women for the brightness she gave while here.

You know, I am up for just about anything, but beyond the tote, it is all tacky. "In moderation" would be good here. A Sharon tate mouse pad? Are you kidding me? That is horrid. I have 2 sisters and if some AS&^le murdered either of them, I would want to honor her memory, not exploit it.
