Top 12 Flat Irons

I heard a salon in Seattle is doing chemical straightening on 8-year-olds! Dicey and kinda sad, I think. My messy pony and poufy bangs rocked when I was 8 (nowhere near as cute as these huggable styles, but kind of adorable ... according to my mom). Dude, let kids be kids.

Now us grown-ups on the other hand, have fun stuff like these amazing frizz fighters and the world's most life-changing hair straighteners, and that's a good thing. Any of them would rival a salon treatment, saving you lots of money.

P.S. Make sure you don't buy this hellish flat iron -- over 50 readers said they threw it in the trash after trying it. Yikes!

No. 12: Revlon Tourmaline Heat Ionic Ceramic Straightener, $32.99

No. 11: Vidal Sassoon VS175 Studio Tools 1-1/2" Tourmaline/Solid Ceramic Professional Ceramic Straightener, $35.99

No. 10: TIGI Hardcore Straightening Irons, $79.99

No. 9: CHI Turbo Ceramic Flat Iron, 1 Inch, $97.50

No. 8: Rusk Professional STR8 Iron Infused with CTC Technology, $215.99

No. 7: Vidal Sassoon VS182 Gold Series Professional 2-1/4" High Heat Straightener, $25.49

No. 6: CHI Wet to Dry Flat Iron, $148.95

No. 5: ghd Original Ceramic Styling Iron 1 inch, $230

No. 4: Revlon Amber Waves Dual-Edge Straightener, $25.77

No. 3: Conair Infiniti 1" Straightener, $44.99

No. 2: Sedu Ionic Ceramic Tourmaline Flat Iron (1 1/2"), $115.95

No. 1: CHI Wee Chi Farouk Hair Straightener, .5 Inch, $101.95

Protect your hair in that hot iron with one of these.
Forget the iron; embrace your curls! These celebrities did.

For some reason I never get the same results when straightening my hair at home as when my hair dresser does it at the salon. Mind you, I tried cheap straigthening irons and finally bought an expensive one. Admitting that the expensive one (Chi) does work better, I believe it's the addition of a straigthtening balm/cream/lotion that does the trick. Since I found a good straightening iron, I guess now I'm off searching for the best straightening balm...or cream...or (whatever they call it...)

i curl my hair every day.. it's so fine and thin and flat naturally.. but my hair stylist makes it look this good (actually better) after a cut without the iron - just with a brush and smart hair drying techniques. i wish i could master that!

I have the Sedu 1 1/2" flat iron and it works wonders!

It gets my hair straight just as nice as when I come out of the hairdresser's place, I even brought it in to show him (he uses a Chi) and he said it was better than his! lol

Very pricy but worth it as you'll never need to buy another IMO

The GVP (Generic Value Products) is modeled after the CHI and at a fraction of the cost($60 at Sally's) It works exceptionally good for my hair(which is very thin) and I would recommend it to pretty much anyone.

I have the generic Chi from Sally's Beauty Supply and it works great at half the cost of a Chi. I would recommend it to anyone.
