Step 1: Soak your feet

Sandals and dirty streets do not do our feet good! I love to go get a pedicure at a salon…it’s sooo relaxing, my feet feel sooo soft and fresh after, but very soon after I feel like I've wasted my money (especially when I ruin them 5 minutes later). I’ve been doing the at home pedicure lately and it’s still really satisfying (and a lot cheaper).

Here's how to do it:

1) Soak your feet in water and lather with soap for 5 minutes

2) Use a foot scrubber and then pumice stone to make heels and feet smooth (you can usually buy this in 1 package) - $3.50

3) Put lotion that has urea on your feet and then put socks on for 10 minutes (it’s like a facial for your feet). The urea rehydrates and heels dead skin, it seriously is a miracle worker. - $15.50

4) Get to painting. I LOVE Essie nail polish, especially the colors “need a vacation” and “watermelon” – they are the perfect summer colors. - $8.00

Another money saving tip: If you've already done the prep work, but don't think you do a very good job of painting your own nails, you can always get a "color change" at a nail salon and it will cost you somewhere around half the price of a full pedicure.

Do you pay the big bucks for a pedicure or do you do-it-yourself? Have any other money saving tips?

Mmm... I like to do my own mani's and pedi's (and people usually think they where professionally done) so I think I will have to spend some time on me and my phalangies this week while my husband is away... :D

The Ped Egg has to be one of the best inventions EVER! It keeps your feet nice and smooth with only five minutes' a week of work. I do my own pedis (manis are a waste of money for me 'cause I do so much gardening, baking and cooking) and they look totally professional. I get many compliments!

Yes it is very important your feet look good as any other part of your body . Especilly in the summer. Who wants to see ugly dried feet in a pair of sandles , they need to be groomed just like your finger nails. If not , it will ruin your whole look.

I agree with tigrrl... the ped egg is the best thing ever... even my husband uses it... which reminds me, I need to get a pink one so we can each have our own since he has started to use mine too.. :/

I've always made sure my feet look just as pretty as my hands.

Especially when you are wearing sandals. Grooming to me means

    head to toe.

I use a pumice stone at the end of each shower, really helps. I still like to go in and get pampered every now and then... Now your making me want to get french tips with flowers! Dang it!
