Wait, seriously? Rachel Ray's Dunkin Donuts ad dumped due to a scarf

This is insane. Extra-sugary coffee company Dunkin' Donuts pulled an ad yesterday because in it spokesperson Rachel Ray is wearing a scarf that looks a little bit like a keffiyeh, the traditional headdress worn by Arab men (it also looks like about a million scarves you can buy in Urban Outfitters right now). Ultra-conservative, and to my mind, in this case, hysterical, talking heads went all berserk and threatened to boycott The Dunk. As Fox News's Michelle Malkin put it, "Popularized by Yasser Arafat and a regular adornment of Muslim terrorists appearing in beheading and hostage-taking videos, this apparel has been mainstreamed by both ignorant and not-so-ignorant fashion designers, celebrities, and left-wing icons."
Basically, these folks were accusing Ray of being a terrorist sympathizer, just because she wore a dumb paisley scarf.

After the kerfuffle, Dunkin Donuts put out this statement: "In a recent online ad, Rachael Ray is wearing a black-and-white silk scarf with a paisley design. It was selected by her stylist for the advertising shoot. Absolutely no symbolism was intended. However, given the possibility of misperception, we are no longer using the commercial."

    That is SO lame. I mean, I'm no Rachael Ray fan, but people have been wearing keffiyehs as scarves like CRAZY lately -- and that scarf doesn't even look like one. :P

    I saw a show of her's recently and I cant believe she is as OUT OF TOUCH as she was acting...it was the one w/the guy who died on Gray's Anatomy that she had a picture of on the red carpet feeling another guys butt....she totally outed him and put him on the spot...wanting to know "what was wrong with him" touching a mans butt when there were so many hot chicks there???? DUH...he brought his dog to the show....can she really be that clueless and if not...that was HEARTLESS

    Dear "stay gold ponyboy", These caricatures are still avaialable on wikipedia.com, the site that claims to be the most neutral institution. But that site does not allow to speak about the authenticity of the holocaust. Why? This emphasises my point that this all stuff is based on religious discrimination. NOTHING ELSE.
