Walk-In Closet: Good Curl Day

Lately I just haven't been that happy with my curls. They've been looking rather straggly: oddly straight in some places, hyper-curly in others. I immediately blamed my haircut. I've been a bit of a w---- lately, jumping from stylist to stylist. So I turned to the wonderful Tim Rogers, spokes-muffin for Charles Worthington Haircare , who works at the Hiro Haraguchi Salon in Manhattan. He told me I needed once-a-month trims to keep the ends from getting "janky" (rhymes with "Yankee" and translates roughly to thin and gnarly), then proceeded to cut off a few inches of jank from the bottom.

Post-cut, my curls were cooperating much better, but the texture was still a little off. Maybe what I needed was a new product? Perish the thought! I've been a dedicated Paul Mitchell Round Trip user, and it's given me sweet, loopy curls for more than two years! But it seemed possible that my hair was changing and, resistant as I was, I had to go with the flow. I dipped into an old jar of Redken Rewind , a kind of gooey paste that I used pre-Round Trip, and, lo and behold, the soft curls I love emerged once more.

good curl day

It's weird how that happens, isn't it? Oh, Mr. Paul Mitchell, I'm sure I'll be back to you soon!
