Remember all that noise Cate Blanchett made about being hopelessly devoted to SK-II? Well scratch that, because it seems the missus has been stepping out with one Dr. Joshi and his miraculous slew of holistic potions. Reportedly, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Moss join them for foursomes. What gives?
Diet- and nutrition-obsessed ladies in the U.K. swear by Joshi, an Ayurvedic expert and preacher of detox and homeopathy that's always in the press over there. So naturally, heh, they're all gaga for his Holistic Skincare line, and especially his eye cream, and I was curious and excited to get my hands on it.
Allure's Daily Beauty Reporter reviews the honestly natural beauty line, Nude.
But color me ever-so-slightly disappointed. The self-proclaimed "all natural" Joshi's Holistic Skincare Eye Cream contains omega-6 fatty acids, Vitamin E and brightening pigments: all pretty standard stuff that you can find in your average drugstore eye cream. But and well, excuse me for noticing, but it also incorporates a slew of your usual preservatives and chemicals (cetearyl alcohol and phenoxyethanol, for starters), indicated as potential hazards in the Cosmetic Safety Database. Now don't get me wrong, preservatives and emulsifiers are often essential parts of many skincare brews, but I hate false advertising. Either ya are or ya aren't, you know?
Beware of Green: Product Fiend says think twice before buying so-called "natural products."
Of course, this could almost be forgivable if the product was fabulous, but I found it to be much too watery and chalky to make for a good eye cream. Too bad. Hopefully, Joshi's diet plans work better than his skincare products.
