What's your beauty packaging pet peeve?
Last night, a friend was saying we should do a story about
beauty-product package design, since she feels it's gone downhill
recently. One trend that bugs her: pressed-powder compacts where the
sponge sits in a lower compartment (versus the old-school situation
where it sits right on top of the powder). Another friend is annoyed by
lip gloss tubes where you turn the base to dispense the product: "It
clicks a bunch of times and nothing comes out, and then suddenly it's a
volcano!" Meanwhile, I'm wondering when someone's going to invent a
body-lotion pump that's actually capable of getting out that last 1/8
of the lotion, so I don't have to flip over the bottle and spank it.
What are your packaging pet peeves? (I'll do a part two where we can discuss our favorite packaging innovations!)

All shampoos and conditioner bottles should be made upside down, I alway turn them that way in the shower. Deoderants should be clear so you can see you are about to run out.

Lipstick color guide on the outside of the tube that is NOT the color of the actual lipstick. I have spent a ton of $$$ on stuff like that!

Lipstick and foundation/powders are so hard to figure out how they would look on you. I understand about sanitary concerns and all of that and obviously I don't want to try on lipstick that 42 other people have tried on but I, like 'trxiegirl71', have spent so much on lipstick and foundation/powder. lipstick comes out much sheerer or darker than expected, more red or pink, etc. . . it's frustrating and it's like just throwing $$ down the drain.

I have to agree with 'c_stoppa01'.I hate it when packaging for things like shampoo, conditioner, etc. aren't made upside down because then you have to worry about when you turn it on it's cap because once you open it, you're garunteed to get a huge glop! Also, I don't like that, with some bottles, the caps are round so you CAN'T turn them upside down so you have to sit there forever just to get the shampoo or conditioner out!!
