And because I'm so frequently a victim of having nothing to wear (which is a whole different story from "I have no clothes"), and my job often finds me needing something to wear, stat, I've devised a system of uniforms that prevent me from running through the streets of Manhattan in a state of indecency. In winter, my go-to going out outfit was a little cocktail dress, a black fitted blazer, and a pair of ankle booties.
Now that warmer weather has arrived, I've decided to give all of that black a rest and try for something a little sunnier. Sometimes I throw on a statement necklace or a few layers of chains, and sometimes I wear stilettos instead of wedges, but the basic idea pretty much stays the same. I've already avoided a few wardrobe meltdowns with my little uniform this summer, and I'm hoping to sail through to Labor Day without another tearing-my-hair-out-clothes-piling-up-on-the-bed-WTF-moment.
