Would You Wear Colored Mascara?

We’ve always been slightly on the fence about colored mascaras. In theory, they strike us as an interesting way to do something a little different with your typical beauty routine; in practice, they come across more juvenile than chic. They are here to stay, though, at least for the short term, making appearances in a slew of recent color collections, from YSL to Estée Lauder, and at yesterday’s DKNY show. “Donna [Karan] wanted something youthful and fresh with a fun accent,” makeup artist Charlotte Willer explained, which ultimately led her to eye embellishments. Willer mixed Maybelline’s Eye Shadow Singles in Turquoise with Vaseline and applied it to models’ lashes. A good catwalk effect, for sure, but we’re still not convinced it’s a look we could pull off in real life. Willer does have a tip for girls like us: “Try putting it on just the outer corners of your lash line,” she recommends, for a surprise flash of color.     It might be alright on some but, do not think it would do good for me. Guess i'm old fashioned. Just black for me.

    hot pink is fun if its a night out or something like that. i dont like that light blue.

    Well, it's very 80's and the 80's are hot right now. I wouldn't do it, tho. I did it back in the 80's, when they were here the first time, but I'm a little old for that sort of bother at this point. I know not all women my age do this (and God bless them if they have the time and energy!) but I leave the trends to the younger women.

    Eh... it doesn't fit my personality.. I like the classic looks more or less... however, I do buy the mascara that has colored flecks in it to help my eyes stand out more.. But I prefer the black or black/brown.

    I have green eyes and burgundy mascara really makes them pop and is really subtle... I'm 40 and wear it all the time... Other colors? Don't think so.
