Yay or nay: Trendy cutout dresses
editor
Kate Hudson, Hayden Panettiere, Alexis Bledel and Leighton Meester
are just some of the starlets showing off bits of their bellies in
trendy, new cut-out dresses
Gone are Britney and Chistina's bare midriff days of the early
'90s. These ladies stay mostly covered, letting hints of toned
tummies peek out. Typically triangular cut-outs look best in black,
but "Gossip Girl" star tried out a pinky-nude stomach
exposing dress.
Do you think this new trend is a good way to show a little flash of
skin without being too daring, or do you think it's just plain
tacky?

Not bad. The 3 black ones are very nice. But, Leighton's dress is flat out ugly.

They look pretty, fresh and classy. I own a Jessica McClintock long black gown from 1996 with a bite taken out of one side and it still looks great. I think the cutout is a timeless look. They are also showing little tops and dresses with a sleeve cutout at the shoulder. A nice way to show a little skin without overdoing it.

I think a curout in the back can be edgy and still classy. But, in the front? Too eighties. It's just a fad, won't last to be called a real "trend" by definition.

Alexis Blendel's dress is the only one that looks good. :/

I think the black ones look pretty nice. Elegant and sexy without being overexposed.
The trick, though, is that the pinky-beige one is not formal enough to pull off the "glimpse of skin" look. It just looks thrown together, like she forgot to put on the tank top that goes on underneath or she put it one backwards.

Black ones and darker colors look great, but the style of the pink one isn't working. It should be kinda tight, not loose. Otherwise, you look trashy.
