Yea, Nay, Or Eh: Rihanna’s Fourth of July Pasties
partner
Rihanna celebrated the
Fourth of July with some strategically placed sparklers—namely,
sequined nipple covers that, in lieu of a real top, peaked out from
under her black tuxedo blazer. While we appreciate the patriotic
sentiment—and the singer certainly carried off the look with
aplomb—we think a more subtle homage to the flag (a
stars-and-stripes bustier, perhaps?) could have been just as sexy.
What do you think? Was Rihanna’s lack of underwear an exercise in
fashion independence, a fashion-forward nod in the direction of
Fall’s lingerie trend (see
Balenciaga,
Alexander Wang,
Givenchy, et al.), or does it infringe on the laws of good
taste?

I personally think she should leave it all up to him with the pasties, seriously. It seems like she is trying to hard now to re-invent her sense of style, WHACK!!!! GO make us some hits why don't you.

I hate how she's such a poser now, and thinks she's so out of the box and edgy.
We get it Rihanna, now go away.

Really, pasties were always meant for topless models and pole dancers, why would someone as gorgeous as a Rihanna need to be that flagrantly overt? I have never found this look sexy or attractive, it is just far too unsubtle for that and seems to denote an almost desperate need for attention - of any sort.
