You Can Wear Blue Eye Makeup Without Looking Totally '80s
user
Blue might just be having a
moment. From
oceanic polish colors to
recent avant-garde
looks we saw on the runway in New York, perhaps there is a
slight resurgence of the cool-toned shade as of late. Do you think
that blue is cool but don't want to run the risk of looking
totally '80s? Let's look at Jennifer Garner for
inspiration. At the LA
premiere of The Invention of
Lying, Jennifer proved that blue doesn't have to look
outdated or aging. The actress, who wore a smoky, muted version of
the tone, paired the look with complementary pink cheeks and lips,
keeping the palette from becoming too Smurfy. To find out how to
wear blue eye makeup in the most sophisticated of ways, see

- The liner: Opt for a dark gray or brown liner.
Both are softer than your basic black but still provide enough
contrast to be noticed.
- The shadows: Tap on a glimmery blue-green
shade like
Bare Escentuals BareMinerals Eye Color ($13) in Faith or Pond
or
MAC Eye Shadow ($14.50) in Steamy over the liner and blend.
Next, apply the shadow to the lid, being careful not to extend
beyond the crease, which could overwhelm the look.
- The lips: To keep the look muted yet pretty,
add a pop of pink on the cheeks and lips. Try
Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge For Lips And Cheeks ($22) in the
appropriate shade for your skin tone.
