Earth Day's here: Change your life for the greener

Tuesday, April 22, is Earth Day, so you're sure to hear a lot about climate change, clean energy, and the like over the weekend. It's all pretty overwhelming, especially if you're trying to figure out how to change you and your family's lives to be a bit more Earth-conscious.

Well, the editors of Shine are busy women just like you, and we understand it's not easy to keep things "green" as we juggle all we do. But we also know that, if the strong-minded women of the world don't do something to save the planet, then we're all screwed!

So, over the last week, we've put up a few posts that we hope will make this whole green thing simpler to adopt into everyday living. Check them out, and make those little changes that make a big difference:

Also, our friends at Yahoo! Green have put together fantastic Earth Day guide to Freecycling, the fantastic new trend of giving stuff you don't want anymore to other folks who want it rather than putting it into a landfill. Now there's a green change that may even save you some money!

Now, ladies, go forth and be greener!

Do you have suggestions for how you greened up your home, family, and self, tell us in the comments below!

WORLD PEACE BEGINS WITH WORLD LOVE FOR ALL COLORS, CREEDS, AND OR RELIGION. THE ENDEAVOR FOR WORLD PEACE BEGINS AT HOME. WHERE WE TEACH THE YOUNG TO HAVE THE RIGHT VALUES, THAT DO NOT INCLUDE JUDGING ANYONE FOR WHAT THEY HAVE, OR WHERE THEY ORIGINATED. LET US CATCH UP WITH THE TIMES. AND LOSE THE BARBARIC MINDS THAT FIT THE CAVEMAN ERA. ITS TIME WE TAKE THE HEART OF MAN AND FILL IT WITH LOVE THAT ENDS ALL THE HATEFUL ATTITUDES THAT COMES FROM ONLY A UNFEELING PEOPLE. I HAVE SEEN SO MANY PEOPLE WHO ARE SICK FROM THE WAY THEY CARRY THE TORCH OF HATE AND DISDAIN FOR ANYONE THAT DOES NOT MEET THERE CRITERIA.

Green to me means more than the outside environment. Green is life. Taking a green food supplement helped to eliminate traces of mercury from my son's body. Andrew had lived with autism most of his life. I was stunned seeing the 'new' Andrew. To learn more go to http://www.geocities.com/greenisthecure/autism.html or check out the book, 'Green is the Cure,' under the pen name, 'Sharon E. Lane.'

I do as much as i can on a daily basis. I keep our cleaning products simple and to a minimum. I have a box next to my garbage can for other empty boxes, like cereal boxes and such, just cold them down, and we only take it out when it is packed so tight it cannot hold anymore.

But what i think is the best thing that i do is when i go to the grocery store and use my own bags. Last time i actually kicked the bagger out of my way said no thanks i will do it myself, and what would have taken 20 plastic bags for them to pack, or about 10 of my re-usable bags, only filled four..
